Horses for Courses, without a doubt the Turbo is a blisteringly fast car which is a first class all rounder, I should know
Because I had one, but if you want something that you have to learn to drive quickly then the GT2 is a whole new experience
Hence the term "Drivers car"

I drove my Old Turbo around France taking in Le Mans, Biaritz, Grasse, Monaco and then Route Napolean. It did everything
Without any struggles but to me, it felt a bit to remote and boring, the GT2 on the other hand even at half the speed just gets my pulse racing, I don't know maybe it is the fact that there is no safety so you have to practise the craft of driving.

There all great cars ie Turbo, GT2 etc. I'm just greatful I can experience such cars to actually even have an opinion.,

Straight line isnt really the be-all of the GT range though. And if you are talking mapped vs standard, of cource all bets are off.
Remap a GT2 and get back to us wink

Turbo wouldnt see where it went.
No prob because it would be upside down in a ditch !! An X50 has the same motor a GT2 has so how do you figure a RWD car with no traction or ABS in the hands of an average driver will out run one? Ill take your bet any day with mapped GT2 v mapped turbo but Ill use mine, money wise mine will owe less than any GT2 owned on here Ill bet

Good comment but just my point, you have had yours for what? 3 years now? and your still learning to drive it, I really dont need a 600hp car trying to kill me at any given moment, Ive driven mine in RWD form with no PSM and its horrible when the back gets lose, drive it in 4wd with PSM off and it flatters like nothing else, the GT2 is great for bragging rights but IMO a 996T in an average drivers hands will be far quicker round bends etc, strangely the only place where logically a GT2 should be quicker is a 1/4 mile but all figures I have seen give it as slower prob down to lack of traction. Either way both cars are awesome but id never swap mine for a GT2 unless it was for resale value.

Pretty sure x50 isn't the same engine, the GT2 has its own option code on the build sheet, so it would suggest a difference.

Not really sure why people compare the two, as the same comparison could apply to a 993 turbo and 993 GT2 or even the 997 versions they serve different markets and drivers.

All very accomplished cars but night and day difference to drive.

Agreed though, both turbo and GT great cars. We are all Porsche fans!

Me I have a Cayman R but I will be in a 996 GT2 within 4-5 years.

I was full of anticipation when I drove the GT2 dude, utterly dissapointed im afraid, the K24's were merely a little laggier than a 996T (K16 car), if you map a 996T its got more power and punch, if you map an X50 its the same power, the 4wd is not intrusive and you can turn PSM off for hero moments, you get ceramic brakes to worry about, wet roads to worry about, building miles to worry about, the best bit is no sunroof which I hate on mine so will prob go carbon roof.Lovely looking and big money yes but value for money IMO no, buy a 996T take out the front diff and prop and have 40K left to make it go real quick

There not for everyone that's for sure, so to some on paper they will never make sense so as the Dragons would say on this topic, "I'm out"

I'll keep it Porsche but I'm a Hot rodder at heart and the only production car that has given me that Hot Rod feeling
Is the GT2 so it's a win win. See you around, I'm trying to get it finished for Wheels Day.

Andy did the cage in my street Supra with 1200hp motor, he does a great job. When is yours going to be ready?

That's my point, when I had the Turbo it made me feel like I was a better driver than I thought I was, the GT2 gave me a reality check in that dept. I wanted something just for the weekend that I could play with in terms of set up and just feeling the little Improvements here and there so for me it's been all about the journey. It was never meant to be a car that I could drive fast out the box but more of a personal project. If something is to perfect of the showroom floor, I get board very very quickly and that's why I didn't go the 458 route this year and the reason why I'm building another car, my thrill comes from the learning and then applying. We all have different boxes to tick.

Merry Christmas by the way smile
