"The flat-six engine is equipped with direct fuel injection (DFI), VarioCam Plus and integrated dry-sump lubrication. These are supplemented by a variable intake manifold with switchable resonance valve for a healthy supply of air. From its capacity of 3.8 litres, it delivers an imperious 283 kW (385 hp) at 7,400 rpm. Maximum torque of 420 Nm is available in the range from 4,750 to 6,000 rpm."
So does this basically mean it IS a dry sump?
not dry sumpSo does this basically mean it IS a dry sump?
"integrated dry sump" is the phrase Porsche use for non dry sump engines.

I will be using it as a every day car like I did my R, I have to sit in it and look at it, don't want a plastic pig inside, did that for years with Lotus.
As I've stated previously, it's hard to criticse anyone for adding options that make the interior look better (in their opinion) that but do not adversely affect the driving experience. Hence the way my own car was specced. If contrasting stitching could only be specified in conjunction with softer suspension etc then I could understand the criticism.

All my porkers have had full leather. unlike the 80% 991 GT3 sales with chairs I will be ordering 918 buckets :-p
Personally I think the full leather makes a huge difference.I thi you are wrong about the buckets on the 991 GT3 - I though at least a third were ClubSport cars, and there were plenty of non-CS cars, like mine, which were specced with the buckets...

Oh, and why on earth do the fking "lightweight" buckets come with electric height adjustment?
LOL... thing is, it does answer the problem that people have with them - either too high (especially with helmet) or too low.Fixed Rake is usually ok for most people once they get used to them - for height adjustment it would then have been shims.
Choose yer hole and stick a bolt in it.

Excerpt from above:
The front axle and suspension are borrowed from the 911 GT3 and the rear axle and forged aluminium double wishbone suspension are completely new. Dampers are taken from the 911 GT3. The electric steering system from the 911 GT3 does make it onto the Cayman GT4 but is given new software.

No specific mention of double wishbone but a mention of 'aluminium wishbone' which I think are the control arms and Autocar has been riddled with inaccuracies of late.... No specific mention of double wishbone rear in the press releases either which I would have thought would be certain to be highlighted if that was changed as AFAIK it is a very big ask to change the rear suspension setup. Happy to be proved wrong though and Autocar right!

isn't it electric memory for the exterior mirrors only? on 991 GT3, the bucket seats with memory option does not give electric adjustment of the seats, just storage of positions of the mirrors (and possible the steering column).SFO said:

There was no electric steering column or memory settings for the mirrors with the first deliveries of the 991 GT3 - did this change for the latest cars?People in the US were refunded money because the (standard) seats did not come with the memory package (including mirrors) as advertised.

I was never really in the market for one of these, so my thoughts on it are fairly irrelevant. I am surprised that Porshce didn't do more to differentiate it as a 'special' GT car. The side on pics that I've seen just make it look to me like a Cayman with a spoiler.
I'd expected something a bit more differentiated from the base car, more like this:
I think the best angle I've seen so far is one that few people will see on a regular basis:
Of course it's how it drives that matters...!

the real (yellow) car looks identical to the photoshop (red) one apart from the rear spoiler being painted to me. Oh and the real one has those natty side air intakes that hide the standard cars crappy black ones I'd expected something a bit more differentiated from the base car, more like this:

why is it on every other site bar the UK site
USA options look loads cheaper as well !!!
Still not paid a deposit yet, seems it's not on Porsche UK site either to order a car !
Dealer reckons it goes on tomorrow, all deposits are refundable until full details are released.USA options look loads cheaper as well !!!

Just had a call from Porsche Cardiff.
The Car isn't live in the UK until tomorrow morning. Perhaps that's why it's not on the configurator?
They also say that 1st orders will be June and not March? I handed over my £5K deposit and will start firming up a spec in readiness for the appearance of the car on the UK site.
