Hi, Can I ask if you already got the car? I have ordered mine in May and I am still waiting for delivery date!! very frustrated.
Bloody hell... I'd be pestering my OPC if I were you. I only ordered mine 4 weeks ago and was given an expected delivery of April and that's at a time when demand has gone mental.ted 191 said:

A couple of months ago I test drove the New Cayenne Diesel (which I thought was fantastic). Speaking to the OPC they advised me the lead time was 6 months, which I wasn't to keen on, I have bought an ex demo from them previously and enquired about the Cayenne I had driven, only to be told, I would be able to buy it until March 2011, when they get a replacement.
Is the lead time for one of these actually 6 months? Are they holding back on production or just got too many orders?
Your thoughts would be appreciated...
When I ordered mine, there were 48 people before me on the list, all with deposits payed. Is the lead time for one of these actually 6 months? Are they holding back on production or just got too many orders?

The waiting lists on popular cars are always like this, a big rush when they first come out and a 6 month waiting list. Come next March/April, demand will have died down, the demo vehicles will have come onto the market and there will be plenty of cancelled orders/no longer wanted cars for sale.
It's what always happens, my advice if you are a serious buyer is not to order one but to wait till early next year and have a good ring around, and you will get a car (and quite probably a saving on a new or nearly new car).

I'm hedging my bets. Order in with refundable deposit and will look in new year for cancelled orders! It's what always happens, my advice if you are a serious buyer is not to order one but to wait till early next year and have a good ring around, and you will get a car (and quite probably a saving on a new or nearly new car).

I wouldn't say it was useless off road, far from it. On air suspension it could probably do 90% of what the RR could do on similar tyres.
But the Cayenne doesn't have a low-ratio gearbox anymore, so true off-roading will always be limited.......
I asked the guys at Silverstone about the lack of low-ratio reduction, they said the new 8 speed box compensated for this. Not sure if I buy this, but not knowing the gear ratios I can't say for sure.
this should show the doubters that it can cope off road - 42 degree incline @ 3 mins mark

The VAT rate goes up on the 4th not the 1st so if you get it on the 2nd you should be ok! Make sure the garage know this, it is amazing how many think the rate goes up "in the new year". They need to appreciate that if they are a day late doing the prep etc it could cost you £1500....

Gary why????The Diesel was revised in July 2011 and the improvements have only made it better; therefore, the waiting list is increasing. I was quoted Feb 2012 delivery if I ordered in early June '11.
Walking into a dealership today and being offered a 6-month wait would be pretty quick delivery; the only way of getting lucky is finding a dealer who had been gifted an extra allocation. As these usually go to the first person on the waiting list, it is unlikely; however, some dealers would rather slot an extra buyer in than juggle the list.
