Is the bubble about to burst?
Discussion
So happy that the conversation is slowly turning away from value to people actually driving the cars.
I can report that I have just passed the 5000 miles mark with my 991 RS by driving to Denmark from London ( 1300 km in one go ! ). Now I have been driving this distance over the last 20 years in various sports cars ( V12Vantage, 997 turbo, DB9 etc ) but nothing compares with the RS of '16 vintage. It is absolutely brutal in terms of how it sits in high speed corners. The Autobahn was largely deserted so I went " full tilt " on some large stretches which is around 310 km/h on the speedo. First time I pushed the accelerator at 285 km/h it changed down from 7th to 6th gear and pushed up to VMax. Wow ! Another point is that it is very loud at full tilt and for longer periods you would need earplugs ( or a helmet ).

I'd be interested to know if you've driven a 7.2 RS and how it compares against the 991 RS on a long distance European trip? If you had to choose one car of any marque to entertain both on track and on the road (particularly long distance), what would you choose and why?Harris_I said:

Excellent question. A 7.2 RS told me he preferred the 7.2 GT3 for long distance trips but the 7.2 RS for instant gratification.Sam All said:

hornbaek has a 4.0 I believe so should be quite interesting what he says!Sam All said:
& the yellow one was not much more - fortune favours the brave, well played. Alpine, do you still own the spiderman?
Unfortunately sold Spiderman, it was (as it typical of me), a great story as to how I ended up with it in the first place. Went to buy a 996RS, couldn't agree a price, eventually agreed something at 4.25, banks closing at 4.30, buyer changes his mind (all done remotely), so I left it. Thought I'd at least look at a 7.2 in a showroom somewhere on the long way back and see if I liked them. Rang Solihull, was due to end up there at 6pm ish, took a wrong turn on the Motorway (doh), and eventually got there at 8pm ish. I'd asked the salesman to leave it in the showroom window, and leave his mobile number. Saw it, fell in love straight away, looks awesome in the flesh, and put a deposit down on my card at 9pm on that Friday night. Went to look at it properly on Saturday morning and bought it.Then ended up buying SY on a whim!, decided I didn't need two (and now think that was mistake), and nearly px it for the Green 7.1. Glenn, who now has a 991RS in green, was umming and arring, so I ended up just buying the green one, and then trying to sell Spider man. Got offered a px with a Challenge Stradale, with £10k going the CS way - a decision I still regret now. Eventually sold it to a fellow PHer, who I think also regrets selling it on.
And 6 months later, I ended up buying that 6RS off the same seller!
The yellow is a really nice colour, but on a nice sunny day, it's hard to beat the blinged up Spiderman.

Thanks for sharing the tales. Plans for a 991RS?
The "collector" side of me might, at the right price. The "(average) driver" in me says not. I had a 991 GT3 and found it a boring road car so sold it having done very few miles in it. I've never driven a 991RS, but I can't get excited about the paddles, electric steering and other technologic "advance" of cars.I'd quite like a newer Spider instead.
