I don't see much of a difference from the outside, apart from inboard exhaust outlets. Wheel looks more like an Audi one with positioning of the spokes, whilst trying to be a bit pork retro...

Got an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side of the car when going over more rough road surfaces, perfectly ok on smooth surfaces. Is this a comon issue or is it back to the dealer, car only 2 weeks old and it's driving me mad
Had something similar and had to return to OPC for repair - they said it was a loose wire under the passenger seat. Never had a problem since.

Has anyone fettled with theirs yet, Either the 3.0 or the 4.2s tdi?

The 4.2 must be a formidable weapon.

Mines just been to Valet Magic for light machine polish, seal and front end clear wrap. It looked amazing when I picked it up, a few days in the rain has put a fresh layer of dirt on. I'll get some pictures from Robbie and post them.

I think you'd struggle to do anything useful with more torque on the 4.2. I am having some fun with VCDS (VW/Audi diag & coding tool) on my Disel S. Whilst none of the ECU descriptions come up quire right, I can still do useful stuff like disable the seat belt reminder and calibrate the speedo accurately against GPS. Trying to find how to calibrate the air suspension, so can re-calibrate about an inch lower - that would really help handling. Did same on previous RR, made up calibration blocks from short cut bits of scaffold pole, and recalibrated the thing about 40mm lower to help handling.

I think you can have some air released to lower a little , remember my salesman telling me but I never persued

Saj, there's a lot more to it than that ! Each corner is raised/lowered by solonoid. Compressor in boot keeps air reservoir under car topped up. Each corner has a height sensor, which is a heavy duty potentiometer on a drop link. All controlled by the ECU. You can raise/lower on the switch, and when you load up people/luggage, rear comes back up to height. Air is constantly (more or less) adjusted.

After a few goes at I've managed to read this thread and am now about to commit to a new diesel Cayenne.

I must admit that I had my head set on the new RRS or FFRR but having driven them all side by side I am completely sold on the Cayenne. My fiance and I both enjoy driving (I got the C4S for her for the summer last year) and this was an important factor for us. It still feels pointy and composed over the B-Roads here in Aberdeenshire and that's what sold it to us. It is also marginally cheaper too which is nice. Helps pay for my new chariot of choice; A7 BiTDI.

We're not interested in taking delivery until March 2014 so plenty of time to order. Also want to hang on and see if any facelift takes place. We are being told that it's still a Dec delivery if we order today so March will be perfectly safe for an order in the next month or so.

Anyway, our spec is looking like:

Comes to rather a lot. I have asked the Aberdeen dealers if they can do anything on discounts and am awaiting a reply. If they can't then i'll begin the hunt for a dealer who can. I'm a tight Scotsman at the end of the day!
Ok, so a wee update.

Having been through the will we / won't we go for a Cayenne we eventually bit the bullet....

... and bought this;

Now I know what you're going to say, and you're right, it isn't a Cayenne.

I guess we just got to the realisation that we like the RR and would likely have bought the Cayenne and then changed it for the RR in a few years. This way we have the RR now and will try to keep it for the longterm.

We went for Autobiography spec with virtually every extra but then chose the smaller 3.0 SDV6 rather than the TDV8. The TDV8 certainly handles better than the V6 but there were too many compromises to make with the bigger diesel and there was no point.

So, i'm a little sad not to be in a Cayenne for a while as it's a cracking car but longterm the cost to own the RR vs the specced Cayenne will be significantly lower.

Cheers

James

Around 10% more than I was expected to spend on the Cayenne. Pretty happy with the deal.

I think the RR will depreciate far quicker than the Cayenne Diesel and will end up costing you a lot more in the long term. Great cars but sooooo different to the Cayenne in so many ways

Not so sure about depreciation. Agree they're different - a Cayenne is ultimately a compromised estate car, it could be a hell of a lot better than it already is if it wasn't pretending to be an off-roader - the compromises of the Range Rover at least give it more ability elsewhere. The whole SUV/lifestyle thing is ultimately fashion-driven, none of them are an objective choice in terms of 99% of the use they get.
