You lot are boring bds
It looks great! A nice refresh and welcome improvement over the tired looking 997 imho. I still can't think of a better / more purposeful looking premium sports car for less than 100k! I can't believe some people are knocking it for a few (easy to remove) badges on it's arse, and rims that have yet to be seen in the flesh (which there are a choice of 4 ffs)

Well, we will see what it looks like in the flesh.
All the same, if they had got the basic design right, I suspect that they wouldn't have covered it in jewellery. Look at the early models of every major 911 type to date. Simple, elegant, undecorated. This is covered in tricksy little lights, badges, grilles and eyebrows. I remain very unconvinced.

It's still a far better design tham the 996 or 997....streets ahead.
However, remains streets behind the 993 design for me.
The main issue is that the 911 has simply become too big. They are huge compared to the older models, and that for me remains the single factor that cannot be overcome.

I like it generally speaking, but it is a little large isn't it? Also I don't like the way they'v implemented the rear spoiler, the interface around the light area looks terrible when raised. And let's not mention the badges, and surely the most popular option on the list - badge delete.
Its odd... the worst pics on this page are of it in grey. Never has a 911 looked so tedious. In fact I have never seen a single car in my entire life that looked any good in grey. Some people say a DB9 or a Vantage looks good in Grey but I reckon those people are missing most of their right hemisphere.
As for the car, everyone will love the 991 in time ... it just takes a few months for the eye to become accumstomed and one's intial resistance to be broken down. I have seen this over and over again and you all should know better now. The same thing happened when my mum got her first datsun 120Y after a string of Hillman Imps. Took an age to get used to the strange japanese car but once we did, we couldn't look at another IMP again.
I remember when bangle first came out with the 7 series and the Z4 and his flame surfacing was something totally new, the like of which no one had ever seen ... there was massive resistance to it and folk all over the internet hated his style
A few years on though and the original bangle designs actually seem pretty humdrum and as for flame surfacing, sudden direction changes and creases in the middle of large panels, ... well you see that even on a basic Perouda/Ssangyong ! Bangle knew exactly what he was doing and he predicted the market long before folk like us did. The 991 will be great I think. Of course you have to see it in the flesh as well, pictures mean nothing.
Just a shame its reportedly so non-911-ish. If its not going to make you feel alive, dick around underneath you, throw you off the road, feel completely chock full of unwanted fidegting, arse end heavy and ponderous and requiring constant attention .... well, you may as well plump for the extra parcticality and get a Cayenne instead.

Yep, awful......I will take a C4S with PDK please and in this colour combo, just until the Turbo/GT comes out:As for the car, everyone will love the 991 in time ... it just takes a few months for the eye to become accumstomed and one's intial resistance to be broken down. This:
makes this:
look dated, fat, bloated, ill-proportioned, contrived, designed-by-committee-that-never-met, etc. etc.
The original 996 was a beautiful, minimalist, svelte, compact, visionary, elegant, subtle, sexy and appealing design - everything the 991 isn't and never will be. Like Art Deco vs. Brutalism.
