To the original poster- welcome to 993 ownership and enjoy.

I LOVE my 993tt, it's the most complete, well built and characterful car I've ever owned.
Represents a good balance of old/classic and modern IMHO.

I like my 4-spoker, but it needs recovering. When it gets wet (wet hands on the wheel) it gets mighty sticky. Any idea who/how much?
Is the 4-spoker the same wheel as was fitted to the 964 and the 944? If so, you can recover it yourself. Really. Carefully remove the existing cover (cut the threads with a sharp knife) to give you the shape of the new leather bit you need, take it to a good leather supplier and ask him for a sheet of leather large enough to do the job, mark out the shape of the old cover on the new leather, cut it out and sew it on using a curved needle and some heavy-duty button thread.

No, really, it is that easy. I did it on my 944 wheel in a couple of evenings, and it's lovely! I'd post some piccies if I had a camera ... and you can choose what colour leather and stitching you want very easily. (I agree with people who like that design of wheel - it is a classic.)

It's worth joining the officia owners club if you have not done so already. You will get access to a usefull forum, discount on parts etc. Also, social events if you are interested.

there is a south east Rennlist meet every few months in Worcester Park (just off the A3 by New Malden) - its mainly 964s but there are always a couple of 993s there too so I am sure you would be most welcome!

Thats right - its a little wheel rather than a button, that turns the seat heating up/down.

Hi Everyone,

I have just bought a 993, my first Porsche. I have always wanted one of these cars.
I would be extremely grateful for any feedback, news or suggestions from other owners, particularly those from Surrey/SW London.

Many thanks.

These are spectacular cars - well done, you lucky man.

My all-time favourite car was 'little blue', my 993 C2 Vario-ram.

So practical, so involving, so rewarding to drive at any speed in any conditions. Mine was my daily driver for the first 18 months I had it & it ate up the use

Don't mod it, don't let the air-con grind you down (the car's one achilles heal) and above all use it, use it & then use it some more!!
