Getting it all wired in by East London - quoted £1600 which wasnt that much more than i got quoted by an Indy to fit the exhaust only, so decided to get it all done

In which case get them to just wire it on off on the switch as opposed to anything more advanced. i.e. engine revs etc

Clarkey - how did you get on fixing the relay? Ive looked at the posts on Renntech and kind of looks easy, but also looks easy to completely cock it up.

How obvious is the diode that needs to be cut, and how easy is it to cut only that one?

Dead easy. e-mail me if you like and I'll give you my number, I can talk you through it when you've got the relay cover off and it's in front of you. I used a pair of scissors to scrape awayy the epoxy under the wire at one end of the capacitor an dthen once I could get access to the wire, I cut it at the right angle before it went into the capactior. That way, I can always blob a bit of solder back on to make it work again if I need to in the future. Once you've cut the wire, just bend the wires away from each other so they can't touch (they're pretty stiff so they shouldn't move back aftrewards.) I actually put a tiny bit of insulation tape between the two as well. Basically, just follow the rentech insyrcutions for the capacitor on Pin 1 inteh relay and you'll be fine. The hardest thing is getting the relay cover off!

You will need that cut out sorted though as it will drive you mad, do it yourself or if you're like me pay someone at an indy to do it, 20 quid it cost me

[quote=bermyandy]Having the PSE fitted on saturday, and was wondering if someone can enlighten me. Does the car have to be stationary when you turn the PSE on and off?

I thought all that happens is some flaps open

I wish my girlfriend had a PSE switch

Can this be done by an OPC? If not, which Indy do you recommend - anyone had any experience of getting it done in Kent?

I'm sure it's not that difficult, but I just know I'll f*ck it up!!!

Cheers

Wasn't that on a special offer though, which they're no longer doing ?

You can turn the switch off at any point, stationery or moving, it doesn't matter. The 'noise' automatically cuts off between 25-45mph because of Swiss noise regulations (crazy cheese eating watch making spoon benders.......)in built-up areas I believe. There's a neat trick you can do to the inside of the relay whcih takes about 5 mins, and will result in the auto cut-off being disabled. I did mine last week and now I have even more control over my 'noise'...

It's great for sleepy villages, passing horses on the road, creeping up on OAP's...etc etc hehe

Or more importantly trackdays, as a standard PSE (no switch) will put you over the limit on many days.

Fitted the PSE to mine last year, but only got around to doing the electrics last week...I may be missing something, but in regards to the 25-45mph (or whatever) cut-out, why not just leave off the Grey/Pink wire that controls this?

Left mine un-connected, taped away securely, and it doesnt cut out....conversely, if you already have this lead connected into the back of the relay board, then why not just either remove it from the housing (could be tricky unless you have a jewellers screwdriver to release the crimp) or cut it and again, secure it from shorting?...damn site easier than buggering around with relays and diodes.

In reply to the original post...I've actually used mine a few times since fitting (despite thinking otherwise)...use my car as an everyday vee-hicle, so have to take calls...lot easier to talk with PSE in quiet "mode", gives the noise-cancellation on the car-kit a chance! Also, neighbours of ours have a 4wk old baby, so it kind of keeps my conscience clear when returning to the house at midnight!

Edited to say, yes, you can also enable/disable without the engine running as the valves are actuated by a vacuum reservoir...so good if you want a quiet start-up at 4am!
