The bid at the moment is £4,550.oo it is going through an online auction at co-parts on the 9/4/10

the car is at the westbury branch if you fancy a look,

i reckon it will make about half its value, top end stuff does seem to sell for a premiumn.

Perhaps think of it in terms of the individual parts instead and the price will probably make more sense. What's a genuine GT3 engine worth? £7k? £10k? Gearbox too - £4k? £6k? Add to that the interior (probably not damaged, can't tell for sure), and any other bits and you still have a shell. Not a nice thought but there could be a value to the identity to a criminal who may consider using this one's identity (even as a Cat D or whatever) to ring a (straight) stolen one.

Major panel damage, engine fire, stuffed suspension, novice driver.
Everyone has to be a novice sometime but you can pass with something other than a GT3 in the wet.
A project plus.

[quote=reedman]If it was worth 35K before in good condition
sell when repaired 25k
cost 10k to fix...

Might be 15k

Not sure I would want the agg to save the money.

For me the difference is refurbishing a house and then selling it no one cares.

selling a house that you have underpinned its much harder and its a pain in the ass.

Shame about the car.
The yellow X on the back. This is for racing do the put them for first time on the track?

JR

Yellow X novice plate "1st 6 races i think"

How much is it worth, question mark.

There was a damaged GT3 on ebay recently. Cannot remember the exact price, but it was roughly £20k. The GT3 on Copart has just over a week to go before the auction, it is currently at £4650. A 997 GT3 sold on Copart last week for £40k.Performance/prestige cars on Copart seem to fetch silly prices.

Sorry, but I just find these sort of pictures, really, really sad!

Could happen to anyone on a track day, on any day, at any time...

Another GT3 Mk1 gone forever!

Repair costs......lots...£20k+

Repaired worth....high £20k

Worth....salvage value of the parts unfortunately.

Can't see it being worth repairing.

sounds about right to be honest, cannot see that be salvageable for anything other than parts

I wouldn't touch that car. It's been crashed and had an engine fire, it just needs to be buried! frown
The engine starts.

If that car was taken to a Porsche approved bodyshop, notwithstanding any engine work, would easily cost over £40k, that's assuming it's not bent (which it probably is). I don't see how it could be repaired anywhere else properly for less than 20-25k, then add any engine/chasis damage. It's worth parts money only.

A new bodyshell? Are we both looking at the same car? Who here stating that the car isnt worth repairing knows anything at all about repairing cars?

I test drove that Zanzibar, sorry to the owner for his loss...
Is this the car that was on SOR at Northways and previously for sale at Camtune/OPC Byfleet last year ? It had MK2 six pot callipers with Alcon discs on the front ?
Apologies to the current owner of that particular car if this isn't it !

That car is very repairable, but will cost. The key thing would be suspension geometry, especially at the rear, obviously.I would doubt there has been serious structural damage.
There has not been an engine fire, someone has just decided to nick the boot spoiler by the look of it. Not uncommon for parts like that to go walkabout once a car has been bought by the ins co.

The engine certainly looks to be running in one of the pics - steam!

My thoughts exactly !

Hopefully the coffin arms and toe links broke before the rear crossmember and the shell itself absorbed any of the impact.

Rear quarter is nasty but replaceable, plenty of second hand doors, wings and lights out there now. Front bumper won't be cheap as IIRC it's GT3 specific ?

All doable, but would need to be purchased cheaply to make it viable. As someone said earlier, a "project" to undertake over time and get the parts at reasonable money rather that turning up at your local OPC parts department with an open chequebook . . . . definitely not a car to buy thinking you'll turn it round quickly and make a profit on.

No reason why it shouldn't be reincarnated though. If repaired properly it should be fine (I'm sure there are other GT3s out there that have suffered worse trauma and have found their way back onto the road/track)

Pretty sure that's the one, reg matches, was obviously a very sad day for the actual buyer, and for any GT3 fan...
