Cayman Air-con Leaking / Broken
Discussion
Resurrecting an old thread here I see but found this with Google.
Just had one condenser on my 2008 Cayman replaced by Porsche Garage due to leakage - £600. Within a few days of return of car a strange hissing sound from behind dash and no aircon. Sound indicates lack of refrigerant gas.
Back to Porsche and diagnosis is the coolant pipes from compressor to condensers is leaking at the unions and whole piping needs replacing - £700.
This is a damned expensive set of faults and typical rubbish Porsche quality. I have never had an aircon failure on any other car (and I've had a lot!). Even my TVR Tuscan airon works perfectly and that is older than the Porsche.

Crikey, I think that is what is wrong with my 911.Just had one condenser on my 2008 Cayman replaced by Porsche Garage due to leakage - £600. Within a few days of return of car a strange hissing sound from behind dash and no aircon. Sound indicates lack of refrigerant gas.

I have the hissing behind the dash, I'll be ripping it all apart and having a look myself next month though when I can be bothered. It's not hot enough to need the aircon yet

Not much help but you can replace both condensers for less than £150 if you DIY, only factor in the cost of a regas as an extra. £600 for just the one is extortion.Just had one condenser on my 2008 Cayman replaced by Porsche Garage due to leakage - £600. Re your current problem I'd get a second opinion at an aircon place totally unrelated to Porsche, and in the eventuality get the work done elsewhere anyway. Leaking at the unions, sort out the unions...
