Is the bubble about to burst?

18k on a old Porsche 924s they must be on drugs! That's just ridiculous. Some of the stuff at Silverstone auctions was a little mad too, but come on, the worlds going nuts. With the price of that 924 surely a 996/4s make much more sense...or have I missed something..

Interestingly the advert shows the typical lack of effort and enthusiasm displayed by most official Porsche centres !mollytherocker said:
What the hell is an OPC doing with a 924S?
Trying to woo older Porsche owners from the indys perhaps? And if so, why? Its hardly the core business model is it?
Theres far more money to be made selling new cars and changing oil for £500!
When I visited my local OPC the mechanic working on my car showed me a slightly tired looking 924 out the back, apparently they usually have one old Porsche to work on and restore per dealership (or something like that). Could this be the end result?Trying to woo older Porsche owners from the indys perhaps? And if so, why? Its hardly the core business model is it?

Believe it or not, some people who work for OPCs are actually interested in the older cars too. I know my local OPC principal is very keen on classics and they always have a few in the showroom and carry out full restorations too. footsoldier said:
Blimey! The bubble 'aint bursting yet! Incredible prices.Where's this great property boom, other than in and around London. Six years ago we nearly bought a bungalow in a very pleasant market town in Worcestershire, with low unemployment and good facilities, but 20 miles from the nearest motorway. There is currently an identical bungalow for sale in the same road for the same price. :O
As for Porsches (or any other equivalent car) of course there is a bubble and inevitably it will burst. The best cars regardless of model are likely to retain their value, but that 120k mile 911 that isn't original and needs work will probably (and hopefully) lose a good half of its value. This is likely to happen not due anything with the economy or interest rates, but when speculators find the next hot 'investment' and don't mind getting their fingers burnt with classic cars because they have an unshakeable belief that thewill make infinitely more when they jump on the next bandwagon.

Exactly my thoughts this morning. May take the edge off some of this newer car, price hiking that has taken place over the last 2 years?g7jhp said:
So the only way to make money is in Classic Cars..and its all tax free...'luverley jubberley', 'this time next year Rodney....' etc Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
