Even IF there is a GT4RS, having regard to the likely severely limited production run this could well have the affect of dragging up GT4 values as frustrated potential purchasers chase it as the next best thing but with the advantage of a more usable car. Identical scenario as with the 991 GT3 and RS of course.........:Well how infuriating. I got back from the USA to an email and a phone call from the Reading OPC letting me know politely that I am unlikely to get a GT4. Ever.
When I deposited my LOI I was 7th on the list now, magically, I am 12th and they're only getting 4 cars this year with no visibility of future allocation. Clearly a lot of sales shenanigans going on in the background and it does feel odd to have one's hard earned £75k refused but there you go.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for additional allocation but I'm not exactly hopeful. How much are 997 GT3s going for these days?

Join the club buddy, same thing happened here. The murky world of OPC allocations!!! Sorry to hear you got stuffed and bumped, it leaves a pretty poor after taste. When I deposited my LOI I was 7th on the list now, magically, I am 12th and they're only getting 4 cars this year with no visibility of future allocation. 1. Porsche finally makes an affordable car for the purist enthusiast, after scaring said beards to death over approaching PDK/turbocharging/SUV doom.
2. Porsche ensures so few of these cars are made that the only people who'll actually be getting one already have spent unaffordable sums on many of the latest and greatest PDK/Turbo/SUV Porsches.
It's like a perfectly orchestrated fk you too anyone who dare dissent against 'progress'.

Porsche track record ..they manipulate production to ensure limited supply of even bread and butter cars..cayenne ,macan, porsche gts models .They get their dealers to buy up used stock of 991s so 991s maintain higher than normal residuals ,because cars are kept in the network.
and people are suprised by the gt4 situation (without factoring in all the lost production time from the 991gt3 fiasco as well)
the other thing is no one is entitled to one ,it appears most of the people who got in early loi's and slapped early deposits down seem to be getting the car with the odd exception.

How many of these early buyers of GT4's have an arrangement with their OPC to sell the car back to them after a few months so the OPC can sell on at a(nother) tidy profit?
Does this happen alot ? I think it happened on my 991 GT3. Car trailered to 1st owner, then trailered back to OPC 6 months later, and sold at a large premium.FisiP1 said:

I'm really bored of all this conspiracy theory crap that only smug, rich non enthusiasts are getting GT4s.2. I have never owned a Porsche turbo or SUV. What I have owned are other GT cars.
What I do have is a friendly relationship with my local dealer, to the extent that they called me about the GT4 and said 'we are going to have a GT4 Cayman in the future you should put a deposit down and get one'. So last year I did, as I think the car will be incredible.
There are a limited number of cars (not the OPC's fault) so they give them to customers who are passionate about the brand and regular purchasers of sports cars. The end.

Or going to 918 customers as they get first dibs. How many of those are going to keep the GT4 long term? I suspect a few guys (perhaps some on here) who've had LOI's in and deposits down have lost out to these 918 customers who've sat back and simply waited for the call to ask "do you want one?" Do you mean the 'end' as in no one else is allowed to post on this anymore? Or that your stated opinion should end this debate once and for all because of its superior strength of conviction? Or that your argument is so powerful that it should end the debate purely due to its intellectual quality? Please clarify?
Without putting words into the gentleman's mouth I suspect he means 'that's life'. In my experience this has always been the case with Porsche GT cars but I've seen it happen with the Gen 1 GTR, F-Types and even bloody RR Evoques, so its nothing new. I have been told that I am still in the running to be able to buy a GT4 but I must admit that stories on here, including yours, has meant any excitement being contained until such times as the keys are in my hand. If the worst should happen and I don't get a car, of course I will be disappointed and most likely annoyed but I wont whine about it every time the subject is brought up on an internet forum. I had every sympathy with all contributors with similar stories but frankly it is a little bit boring now.

My OPC have always treated me very well . I have a history of GT cars with either a 6 , 7 or 991 GT3 in the garage for the majority of the past 7 years ( so enthusiast box ticked ) . I've purchased where possible from said OPC but they have understood when they couldn't source the car I was looking for i.e my last 997 GT3 . I've also had a Cayman R from them in the last 12 months .
Whenever I'm passing I call in for a catch up , see what they have in and a cuppa and talk about the crazy price rises in whatever the current booming model is . At least once a month, normally more . I use them for servicing and give them 1st refusal when time comes to sell , but again no hard feelings when Ive sold privately .
I've 2 silverstone days with them and they have sorted me tickets for Geneva ( which I was going to regardless ) .
All in all very happy . Will be even happier if I get a GT4 but not the end of the world if I dont.

There seem to be plenty on here with a confirmed "you ain't getting one", but anyone got a properly secured order/contract to supply yet?
Not sure you can yet ? Don't believe the porsche system is open to accept orders and spec cars yet. Happy to be corrected though . Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
