Paint match looks a little off in places on that 996, it may just be the camera angles but it would want looking at in person really. I paid less than that for my 135k miler, which has had suspension refreshed, new brakes and clutch within the last 2 years. I was talking to the guys that look after it when I had new pads and braided hoses last week (track day victims, badly needed uprating!), we all think that I did well for the money. Maybe it is worth £12k if it's fairly up together in todays market?

That 996 is a 996.1 C2 Manual. I predict it will be a £17.5k car in 12-18 months.
That would be nice. It's almost identical to my 150k miler. I'm in it really hoping it to be depreciation free, appreciation would be nice, I could swap it for a boxster and a kit car then. eltax91 said:

Unless you do something wrong, I can't see how 996s will depreciate now. They're on the uptick, definitely. Just glad I got mine before that Fast Bug said:

I had a riot in it last Sunday on the A272 where you could really stick it into the bends and power out and the traction was surreal. And that's on standard 72k mile dampers..
Love the 272! I'm hoping to have a little blast up there late Saturday evening to bed my new pads in delays said:

I have been looking at 987.2 boxster and 997.2 911 prices recently. It's absolutely crazy, almost same mile and conditions, 911 = 2 x Boxsters!
2009, 50k, 987.2 boxster 2.9 is around 17k
2009, 50k, 997.2 C2, is around 35K
Even more crazy is I have seen a few good on paper looking 987.2 boxster S under 20k, whereas the equivalent Cayman a solid 5k more. 35k seems to be the entry point currently for a 997.2, seems to be too much money to me.2009, 50k, 987.2 boxster 2.9 is around 17k

Once you are in min 30s, a bit push further and OK condition, R8 V8 is much fun imho. (boxster's angry cousin ). And no more engine woos, or worries around, solid Audi engineering.anonymous said:

I had my 997 c2s just after they launched. I've no idea now how good it was. At the time i loved it because it was new and very shiny. I won't waffle on too much but I'd like to try one now too see what the fuss was all about. It might not live up to the memory. I always thought it was great but perhaps there was some rose tinting going on.ATM said:

Similar recollection to a mate of mine who also owned one when they were current. He also had an Aston V8V in between getting to his current Lambo, talking cars he does sometimes look at another Aston, the V12V. What is interesting about that is he had a nightmare with the V8V but I guess the only problem with the 997.2 was it just didn't stand out historically as a Porsche or against its peers on all the emotional stuff that matters with sports cars. People seem to completely ignore the atrocious quality issues like the paint bubbling corrosion and window wiper mechs failing on the V8V because its an Aston and looks and sounds cool.Yeah I couldn't believe it, properly shonky stuff. On his the joins on the arms that drive the wipers fell apart. I had similar on my 944 when it was a road car but this was after 150k miles of wear rather than about 30k miles as he had on his V8V. Still though a beautiful car with a fantastic sound track, its the sort of stuff that makes it an 'event' as people say rather than just a fast way to get about. Helps of course that apart from odd and ends of shonky stuff you could expect on a low volume car, the big oily bits seem pretty robust.

How did you decide on the Konis?
Partly price, partly previous experience of FSD on other vehicles, partly the personal honesty that although I like the idea of thinking I'm a track day enthusiast, in reality I've done two track days in the last year but 10k worth of commuting and blasting about the Yorkshire dales. I want compliance and control. Hence.. edc said:
Which springs did you go for? I've still got the FSD and -10mm H&R lot still sitting in my garage for the past few months.
Going with the stock springs to begin with. Will see what it's like before considering any further changes. No labour charges as i do all the work myself. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
