Rubystar & Rubystone are the same colour, paint code 82N, just the name has changed. Very dependent on the photo and filters used afterwards.
It’s all in the name I won’t bore you with the intricacies of the internal politics at Stuttgart, but that Rubystone 996 GT3 wouldn’t and shouldn’t have existed if Porsche had had their way.
Unfortunately for them (Porsche) what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and once a contract has been signed, there’s no getting out of it...
I suspect that changing the name to Rubystar was their way of sidestepping an undertaking they’d made previously
As you said, it’s very light sensitive, but it’s not an easy colour to paint either, too heavy an application and the shade changes drastically from the intended colour.

This is the one Porsche Central Operations did for another member on here. I have seen the car at JZM. Only respray I've seen that I rate. Wont even PPF mine after. Will just add another 100k or 200k miles. Not many people know that PCO even exist
That loooks like the PTS colour "Woppum Orange" Slippydiff said:

What is/was their issue with that colour on a 996 GT3? I guess it’s a very different time to now but stillI won’t bore you with the intricacies of the internal politics at Stuttgart, but that Rubystone 996 GT3 wouldn’t and shouldn’t have existed if Porsche had had their way.

These things happen Nathan. By way of example ABT in Slough came highly recommended. https://autobodytechnic.com
Even a good paint shop can perhaps have a few bad days I more simply lose patience with mediocre attitudes and average people. Their loss not ours they should be doing a Rolls Royce job for their customers and us as customers speaking well of them. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

Surely its best to go with number one on this list

Chartwells who Shmee150 uses.

If this chap is going to such great lengths with his car, unsure why he'd go to some back alley two a penny resprayer.

Hence why I'm sending to Porsche Central Operations. Lesson learned. You say two a penny but ABT were highly recommended by a another long standing firm in the Porsche world that I trusted. This is the lady that is hopefully going to say yes to a colour change They are fussy. I mean Porsche AG.
Muriel is an absolute star and a pleasure to deal with. IMI A said:
Muriel first class and very good at managing expectations. Ver clear at outset they may not be allowed to colour change. I agree lovely wish I’d sent to them in first place. Not much more expensive than all the other quotes I had. Not much more than I paid ABT for ruining her.
I can't say I was overly impressed with the setup or the individual I spoke to when I dropped the RS sill extensions off there I. I wanted the front bumper reworked and painted on the ZanziCup. I elected not to take it there after I'd met them and seen their set up.
These guys are good too : https://www.shorade.co.uk/
They re-painted my first Zanzibar Mk1 GT3 bar the roof, and did a superb job. They also repaired a mate's Mk2 996 GT3 after he removed 2-3 wheels off it after a high speed spin up a kerb ...
I think they were the first company in the UK (outside of Audi UK themselves) to gain accreditation for aluminium repairs to the R8 chassis too.
