962 recreation with a GT3 Heart...

Yes Seems that without a fancy paint job some people just don't get it, but those that did understand the engineering that went into it where very complimentary. Was gutted that we did get any show girls draped over it for some good photos. Perhaps next year with a Good paint job the attention might grow. We also have our own Super Model now to promote the car are self.... She also happens to be the Primary Driver Now if I can only convince her to wear some thing appropriate then we are guaranteed more exposure .....

When you machine the ali mounts for the wing you could machine a pocket into the side of the main vertical member and have a strain gauge installed. You should then be able to 'Gauge' how much downforce your angular adjustments are achieving.

Going to log the suspension compression as a guide to the balance of the Areo.Steve
Have only just started the design of the uprights for the wing, so lots of design ideas knocking around right now....you never know Steve
As well as doing the cars that I can blog about, I've had been doing some Development projects mainly CAD work for others that I cant talk about. Then there was a little stay in the Hospital, nothing serious but it did knock me around and gave me a little prospective on what's important in life... Also looked into moving to a lovely 4 Acre property not to far from where we are now, had a 40x32 pole barn already to set up shop in, and lots of room for expansion. But after some soul searching and discussions with the wife, even though we loved the property and the house we decided to stay for now and put up a small "Shed" (20x35ft) as I'm running out of room fast. Hope to be back on the 962 full time by next week, and my car is heading to Unobatainium Welding soon to have its turbos and waste gates all connected to the heads with some Artwork of a Header design we've cooked up...

Found a Dream house for us. Its was not planned just saw it and had to buy, so now have 5 acres to play with and so will be putting up a workshop / Man cave 3 time the size than I have now. Plus will have second floor for storage and an office.
Some time life throws you a curve ball and this time I caught it....
So a 40x80ft barn will be ordered soon, options are a steel structure or maybe even a more traditional Pole Barn....
these people have the best quote in so far...

Well its been to long since the last 962 pictures, so today it saw light for the first time in 12 Months. We are moving the storage Shipping containers it was in, as they where in the way of the new workshop build. The location for the shop has moved 3 times now but we have all the permissions now to put it in the best place ( Last duck to fall on that decision was the Gass company who's berried line was in the way). So time to get out the car and drag the container forward 30ft.... So seemed rude not to take a video and post a pictures... more pics of shop build very soon....

Clive has moved house so I assume the car is in storage somewhere.
He has plans in place for the new workshop but weather conditions out there are making digging foundations a no-no.
In the meantime he is building his 'Brownie Points' reserve by completely refurbing the insides of the house to the managements specification.
I think it will be some time before we see any progress on the car but I'm looking forwards to the workshop build blog.

Spot on there Steve... but even management now understands the need for my workshop build to be the main priority now..... I'm so past bloody tiling and plastering now....He has plans in place for the new workshop but weather conditions out there are making digging foundations a no-no.

HI all things have changed abit in the last year. The 962 was sold by the owner he was made an offer he could not refuse, it left me alittle empty as I never got to take molds off it before it left. But that’s life when you don’t own the project I suppose. So I’ve been looking for another 962 body ever since. The Daura project looked lovely but the price was basically over my head. Then 2 days ago this exciting project turner up, it has tons of info and drawings etc for the original car all from a aircraft tech that willing to help me get the car finished aswell. Deposit paid just a long road trip to go pick it up.... more info later

Good to get an update. It must be soul destroying to put all that work in and not get a chance to finish it. I don’t suppose you’ll be starting another project for that guy any time soon.
So basically you’re going to start over from scratch now? It looks like this project is a monocoque? So none of your original work can be carried over?
Is this one going to be for you?
No still friends with the owner of the original 962. Was never my car, and my house move did put at least a 12 month hold on the project. So understandable if your offered more money for the project that you have into it... So basically you’re going to start over from scratch now? It looks like this project is a monocoque? The Ally Tub will now be very like the original, but behind the bulkhead will all depend on the engine Trans combo I use for this one. Would love to use another Porsche motor, but the cost might be the killer to that one. A 996 Turbo engine and trans would be a nice combo but a more common V8 might be the way to go to help fund the project this time... The engine to be honest could be almost anything ( seeing as the length isn't really and issue ), the transaxle is the thing that denotes weather the rear suspension will be bolted to the box or will have to be self supporting... Either can be engineered. Anybody hears of a cheap Racing transaxle going let me now, old Xtrac or hewland doesn't need to be a High HP version.
Anyway end of the month I should be picking it up..
