Don't need to track them to determine most cars capabilities.......deserted quality A and B driving roads are perfect.....
You are driving on the public road, even if to the best of your knowledge it's deserted as hard as you would drive on track and have enough confidence there is sufficient runoff/road to fully explore the capability of a car like the 991 gt3.......?

LOL. I think they call that a Cumbrian kiss in rallying - a gentle nudge up the arse to get a slower car out of the way evil

back to OP, a lot depends on the RS imv, and its final nos, if the RS is a big overs car and sure we all think it will be, then this will pull the GT3 up towards the 2s..think it will take until late Q3, to see how this plays out though......

It's a free forum, feel free not to read or post on 991 GT3 related topics....
I was very fair to you in my 1st post , it was only after you suggested I shouldn't read or post on 991 GT3 threads because I think your a fanboy that I called you a prick, what's really a shame is that you only live down the road and I'd much rather go out for a drive with you on a Sunday morning in the Porsches than row on here about cars, but as I've only got a 997 I don't think I could cope with you harping on about how much better your car is all day.

If this is your idea of being 'very fair':

Sidicks, I've not met you, and in person you are possibly completely different to your online persona, but you really do come across as the biggest 991 GT3 fking nosebleed fanboy in the universe.
then I would have no interest in going out for a drive with you anyway.

I've never once said that my car is better than a 997, so please stop making accusations that you can't back up!

Perhaps you should stop by next time you're passing and say hello rather than throw insults on here and then being surprised when I respond accordingly!

Can we talk about the car now please?

This thread, and its two main "protagonists" must be breaking some kind of records for the absolute determination they have shown to totally alienate their fellow Pork enthusiasts on the sacred altar of "having the last word".

I find it quite worrying that they are allowed outside, unsupervised, in charge of powerful vehicles.

The one from the other side of the Atlantic seems to have STFU at least after his "it was the other guys fault" cock-up was shown a few posts back.

Just one left, and then peace can reign..

If I had a 991gt3 available for my regular amusement, I doubt if I would frankly give a toss what anyone said about it, I would just get on with enjoying it - Lesson 1

If I had the wherewithal to buy one new, I would take the trouble to arrange a comprehensive test drive before parting with all those $$$$ - Lesson 2

The two main monkeys here need to wise up/grow up, tedious doesn't begin to cover it. rolleyes

Well, I was at the Grasshopper meet last week in Edenbridge, I'll be at the super car Sunday on 3rd May at goodwood, doing the Alpine Assault again in July as well as many other days of fantastic fun in the old girl. But of you fancy a run down the Coast one sunny weekend let me know. I'll even buy you breakfast...

Poisoned?
biggrin

I might take you up on that offer!

Before moving on, I want to emphasise one thing - I've never once said that my car is better than a 997. I think my car is great and I've been happy to challenge (perhaps too vociferously) those who have criticised the 991 GT3 but who have not driven one, but I would never try and claim my car is 'better' than earlier versions of the GT3 or other similar cars. That's very important!

Kinda strange, these guys seem to be having a blast in the canyons ? can't this Ronin dude drive ? or change gear ? or WTF ? I love my (manual, you know, mens gearbox smokin) turbo, but, this 991gt3 seems a hoot . . . . maybe the guy with the Tache should sell the turbo & get a 991gt3rs, then, when he hates it within a few hrs, he could come on here & sell it at a knockdown price, now, THAT would win him some friends clap

Don't be silly, I'm a really nice chap in real life, and not one to hold a grudge, besides I'd love a look around your car, just because I don't like the way you defend it so vigorously doesn't mean I don't love the car.

In fact I love anything from a 944 to a 918 and everything in between.

Don't like the 924 though.
You'd be welcome.

There was a really "nasty" 914/6 with a 911s engine (or was it even "hotter" ? ) advertised on here last Summer, and it actually looked (and probably drove) kinda well. I heard that the "handling" makes an old 911 seem quite friendly (mid engined/early incarnation/polar moment of inertia/ WHOOSH ! ) but, I have a bit of a soft spot for them. They looked damn modern compared to a 911, and assuredly , they were the Boxster before the Boxster, & were definitely more likely (if properly developed) to topple the 911 than either the 944/928 whatever Porsche believed.

Anyhow, none of them did, and I still doubt anyone would seriously opt for a gt4 instead of a gt3/gt3rs so, "the king is dead, long live the king"

So would I, although does a 912 not have all the potential bodywork issues related to an early 911 without either the 2 litre+ flat 6 or the cache?

Well this has kept me amused for a day or two and for what its worth I'll give you my view.

Having owned a 997 manual Turbo, a 997 Turbo S, a 997GT3RS and now a 991GT3, my opinion is based on it being a weekend car and not my daily driver.

I am looking for a car that puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and is completely different from the DD.

The Turbos are fantastic GT cars that will gobble up continents and can be used everyday. The RS is more hard core and needs more from you but rewards for your effort and concentration and I did several continental trips which were great fun. The 991 has moved the game on from the 997 it is more refined and more comfortable and probably quicker. I am still learning the car having only done 1000 miles but it is an impressive bit of kit.

So its horses for courses in my opinion all deliver and its what you want from your car. At the moment its the RS that to me is the special one but we will see how we go with the 991.
