wtdoom , I keep thinking about this car thinking I've seen it somewhere - it's been really bothering me - then I remembered I have a picture of it (or so I thought) in my "Porsches I'd Love to Own" file stored on my Mac - it is a select collection of a few cars that I have seen and loved over the years - turns out the one I saw in the metal last year was a different one - a copy I assume ? Shame, I thought I'd spent a good 10 minutes drooling over your favourite car smile

No mate that's either a replica or the sister car . I had the opportunity to buy either and chose the 95 car .
Great pics , you should see my howlers frown

My story doesn't even get close to wtdoom's but it does end with my owning an AC so perhaps it's worthy of sharing.

I'd wanted a impact bumper 911 since I was a boy and more particularly since my uncle who when I was 14 worked on the oil rigs in Brazil came to my house in a blue SC coupe. I couldn't believe that someone in my family could own such an exotic car, and to do this day I still remember opening that stiff door handle and clipping my finger causing a blood blister and thinking 'it's in me', as if possessed by this german magic. Ever since that date I wanted one with all my heart.
Fast-forward to 2009 and a new job and a starting bonus payment, meant I had a budget of £11,000 to buy one. Off to Portiacraft I went to look at a black targa carerra 32 - lovely car though it was, parked next to it was this squat frog-like 88' white turbo for twice the money. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Harry offered me a test drive and that boost - unbelievable, I was in a trance. Before I knew what I'd done I'd put down a £2,000 deposit on my credit card. I remember driving away in the family BMW estate, with two kid's seats in the back howling with the sheer lunacy of blowing all that money on a car I'd only laid eyes on an hour before and hadn't even had inspected and also knowing that I'd have to sell the family car to fund it and drive my kids and family around in a 930 - our new daily.
When I went back to pick it up, I also realised that at 6ft 5in I didn't even fit properly in the car, but I'd been too amazed by my test drive to notice my head jammed in under the headlining!
Since then I've put on 34,000 miles, driven her to work through London to work every day for two years, parking her on the street in Harlesden for 3 years (not the greatest area in London), driven the whole family down to our summer holiday in Spain, driven back from a stag do in Mull - 532 miles in a day, been to CLM, raced to Goodwood in a convoy with a 355, 328, 80s M3 and a brand new Aston Martin Rapide, had the engine rebuilt, turbo refurbed, suspension refurbed, kidney bowls, 6 sets of tyres, spun it 360 degrees coming off a roundabout onto a diesel slick - new pants the only damage and had more fun than I thought possible in a tiny, smelly, noisy, harsh riding, no heating, crazy boostmobile - I love it!

And here she is after a quick burn down to the west country

What about this then,2008 lemans,600kg and 240 bhp,158 mph through the speed trap at night!,overtaking or should i say undertaking the x lemans film 911 st camera car.
I think the prettiest nimble porsche prototype, the first car porsche used a windtunnel in the design of,makes the 917 seem like a ugly thug.!

Saw this one off in a privat Museum in Germany. This gentleman has a nice collection of Porsches
and his own mechanic. You can only visit it on a Sunday.

Small world : Neil did my pre purchase inspection on my 2.7 RS (ish) - he seemed a charming man who really knows his Porsches - spotted a pulled stud which was the source of a leak that I got fixed after purchase - certainly saved me a few quid - so big shout out for that ! smile

Thanks for that - you know what , unfortunately I must admit I really don't know enough about the racing stuff to be able to tell the difference. I have a bit of a dream that as soon as work is less mental & I get some good , free quality time , if I'm lucky enough , I'd love someone amazing to teach me how to drive properly by spending some proper time in these sorts of things - but for now the drooling will do - repro or real it really was stunning - is it anyones on here - I saw it at the OPC in Leicester in the summer ( I think ?)
