Just had one of these fitted in mine after it being recommended on here.

Great value at the moment & much better than having nowhere to put iPhone.

You don't happen to know which adapter was required for the aerial do you?
I was thinking of picking one of these up today but didn't want to have to go back for the adapter if I can help it.

Sorry no but if you tell them it has a small aerial plug & needs converting into longer one to fit aerial socket they should know apparently it's a standard item for most cars.

Think we may have found out why the air con wasn't working.....

Unbelievable the ammount of muck that came out, thats only a fraction of it on the floor! eek
Would have been a quite a straight foreward job if only one bumper screw hadn't rusted itself well and truely in, and appeared to be made from Kyrptonite. smash
This could explain why radiators on these keep rotting out so fast. Some mesh and drain holes may see them last a lot longer.

As for speakers - I'd choose some with rubber cone surrounds like JBL, lots of them have cheap foam that will not like sunlight etc that you may find in a convertible.

Still shows how foam deteriorates though:

always go for rubber surrounds.

Has anyone tried stripping out the A/C on these cars?
If/when I get one I'd rather fancy taking the whole lot out to lighten and simplify the car - anyone?

Thanks - that was enough to get the right adapter.

That said, it seems like I need a wiring converter too - so ill head back to see whether they sell something suitable.

Strange my standard one unplugged & new one plugged straight in.

For sake of £30 I let them have the hassle.

That'd odd. I think mine has the cd changer and door speakers (which will mean amp too) so perhaps that's the difference? I'll keep my fingers crossed that they had a wiring harness (I was given a £10 voucher with the head unit so hopefully that'll help pay for most of it).

Then i'm planning to give the front speakers a go. I'd really like to fine some Focal speakers which are shallow enough - I understand 55mm is about the limit in the dash.

What would be even better would be a 3 way component set with a 5' bass unit so that I can replace all of the current speakers.

That sounds like an absolute bargain (and very much like my car but for much less money).

That said, mine had new RMS, IMS, Clutch and disks/pads to compensate.

Hope it's a good one, and that you have decent weather for the pick up tomorrow!

Could someone point me in the right direction for a wiring harness to fit an aftermarket stereo.
My connectors look like the attached image, yet they don't seem to resemble the standard harness.

Well I turned up for the car today with a friend who worked at Specialist cars of Malton.

Log book wasnt in the sellers name, so straight away I wasnt happy

It never had:
Bose
Stability
heated seats

Air con wasnt working. It needs both front condensers.
Oil leak on crankshaft oil seal, only slight but would require attention
Needs all four discs and pads.

Also had rear bumper requiring maching polish at best if not paint.

So not as described, Pistonheads beware when its up again. He offered it to me for £4500, and asked me to offer as he was desperate to sell.
I walked.

You not a little bit tempted at <4.5k?

The condensers are a simple job and <150 for aftermarket parts (which are pretty much identical to OEM).

Bose sounds crap anyway so there's not much loss there. Heated seats I'd miss, but not a massive show stopper?

The main issue I'd have is the log book. Did he offer a reasonable explanation?
