O dear,it does not look great so far,as for phenomenon!,what is 1450kg,21 inch tyres and brakes that may last a couple of track days.
As said porsche are missing the point, they will have to go carbon tub, lightweight etc to compete.
Mine may be for sale if it looks this bad and size smile
Porsche will not be missing any points YELLOW 491! Watch this space! The proof will be in the pudding as they say. This is an RS street version not a racing RSR. Let's give them a chance and see the final product! IMHO this car will be AMAZING on and off track! Ferrari has a long long way to go to catch up!!!

Its no beauty, but if I get my allocation, I am in. Bit of a brute, doubtless, but I cannot think that Porsche would release an inferior car to the 991 GT3. Given the stellar performance of that car, I would think this will be in another dimension.
Agree with all this - looks like it's been hit with the fugly stick - but my names down and if I am lucky enough to get one - I'm in too smile

Not that those of us who've had an LOI in for quite some time will get the chance to order one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LHD.....

Not sure I could live with a LHD though, will put deposit down but I think unless you're a celebratory there's no chance of a car, if not will look at the new shape R8 V10 or the McL P13 both due in March

They are missing the point,i have had enough porsches and track miles to know that this car will eat tyres and brakes like no tomorrow ,and feel like you have two pairs of gloves on while steering.let alone the automatic gearbox.

I am on the 918 list. That seems to be separate from the dealer allocations (as someone suggested earlier in thread). Don't know the aggregate total though.

I respect your views. I also owned plenty Porsches and did a lot of track days. Too soon to judge in my opinion.

Whats a x box mate,i only have stubble for this year.
Keen to see what the car turns out like,i am just afraid its so big,not so suttle. It could end up just parked in the garage, while i take a older model out for more fun.
It might just be like a good mature woman, and leave the 20 yr old blonde in the garage, as i want a better experience!!
Enjoy the cars.

Without reading the whole thread - can anyone tell me if it's possible to order one of these if you are not currently on the waiting list?

I should have got my name down but had a million other things on my mind last year and never got round to it!

...if it helps my business partner has a 918 Spyder?!

Get him to place an order for you is your best chance.

Ye that's what I'm thinking - was planning on just rocking up to the office in it one day unannounced...but feel this may be a pipe dream!

I'll have a word with him and see what he can do.

Asked my Opc when collecting the GT3 about how many they would get. Bearing in mind these guys got quote a few GT3 and should be decently big.

One car. And they have 10people with deposits down. Crazy.

Yes my dealer told me I won't be getting a car and I've had 4 new 911's from them (£402k), severely restricted numbers and he said if they're lucky they might receive 2 cars but told to just expect 1, bad form I think!!!!!!!!!!!

That new McL and R8 V10 out in March will get my money, stuff Porsche in the future

Sources close to Porsche have suggested that the new Porsche 991 GT3 RS will mark the Rennsport's return to truly limited numbers, with the UK likely to see just 38 cars in 2015 after the cars launch next March.

Someone I spoke to mentioned Guildford OPC think they are getting 2 perhaps 3 cars but they have at least 2 918 buyers... If they are that few cars then in all honesty one can't really fault the dealerships for protecting their 'top' customers I suppose.

About RS cars being 'truly limited', tbh have they ever really been? there were ~1.5k 2.7 RS and ~2k 964 RS made for example at the time the total number of buyers was far smaller...

Recent cars include the GT2 RS and the GT3 RS 4.0. It's not as if Porsche limited the numbers there.

It says 38 cars in 2015, not in total. Last I heard there were "about 40" 918 expected in UK, so it maybe that they are prioritising 38 918 buyers in 2015 with the rest in 2016
