Saj - not exactly sure what comes with the Light Comfort Package but have you found it useful.

Useful No, but makes the interior cabin an even nicer place to be, some images for you

The LED strip lighting to the right of the armrest are stunning, I just wish they could be brighter

Problem is the average mpg function resets itself for each journey (AFAIK, please someone correct me if I'm wrong) so you tend to look at the long "good" mpg journeys not all the little bad ones.
I did a tank fill up calculation and I'm afraid it was 28mpg which included varied driving, certainly not caning it so I would say this would be a accurate average mpg, cold starts and traffic really hammer the mpg in all cars.

Whilst the new CD is a good car some of these gushing comments are a bit ridiculous, this is a Porsche forum, the Cayenne is a 2000kg+ 4WD truck and feels like one, yes Porsche have done a good job and everyone is proud of their purchase but go easy on the superlatives, this is the donkey of the Porsche range wobble
The average mpg won't reset until you manually reset it, which is what I did before carrying out any tests.
The 'present' mpg, as I call it, resets itself between journeys, after a set period of being idle.

And as for being the 'donkey' of the Porsche range - it's a very popular donkey judging by the sales figures, and one beast in particular that I'm sure most other manufacturers would love to have as a choice on their respective configurators.

Having previously owned a 944 Turbo, a 997.1 C2S and a 997.2 C4S Cab - I know which one I prefer for every day use, and it's none of these three. They are breathtaking round a track, but thats where it ends in the real world I'm afraid.

Rocky Road, I did consider an 'S' (which was brilliant btw) after driving one, but rather than getting town mpg in the mid 20's, I fear you'd be looking at mid-teens mpg in one of those. Added to that, the initial purchase cost is higher, and the torque of the diesel provides as good a driving experience as the 'S' anyway, so thats why I went for one. I'm not really questioning why I bought the diesel as mpg wasn't the main reason for purchasing it. I just guess my mpg expectations were set a little too high thats all.

I agree the LED strip looks stunning and I definitely recommend the light pack.

FWIW (and sorry to resurrect this part of the thread) I am generally getting high 30s MPG, even reaching 44 MPG driving very gently. The car has about 3k miles on the clock so I guess it will keep improving.

Press the sport button and it's a whole different matter though! I cannot believe how good this car is, and I say this as a 911 GTS owner! The performance is stupendous, considering the size of the car and its relatively low BHP. Can't tell you how pleased we are with this car.

Many thanks for the images - looks great. I was not able to see this option at the OPC in Reading but will now tick the box. Do you know why there is a separate option which is ICW driver memory package as I have chosen this option?

Good point. Had forgotten about the extra torque. All things considered, anything around 30 mpg is still exceptional for a car of this size and weight.

LOL. Am sure you meant Workhorse not donkey! smile

It's not a 911 but for a car of it's size it's a pretty amazing drive. Give it a go - it'll put a smile on your face.

Back on the mpg theme, after a week of driving around town the computer showed 30.0mpg but using the brim to brim method it worked out at 28.9mpg so there is a "gap" in the on-board calculation.

The reasons why Porsche are the best car company to buy a car from;

I found a scratch on the roof of my Cayenne not long after I got it home, spoke to the dealership, very apologetic and tried to buff it out. Didn't work cry

Going into body shop Monday, when I will have to 'suffer' a 911 Turbo S Cabriolet for the week!!!

Bring on the good weather!

Brilliant car, useless dealer In 2010 my then new Cayenne Turbo was handed over to me with a 3cm tear in the passenger seat, "no problem" said the sales guy, we'll get another ordered and will be sorted next week. Eight months and many, many phone calls and e-mails later they came to collect the car to refit new seat, what did they leave me with? A brand new Carrera 4S, I couldn't use it much as it happened to be the only week of snow all year.

It should come as no surprise getting a Porsche courtesy car from an actual Porsche dealership. I think it just depends on what they have on demo at the time.

The real surprise comes from the fact that you (in fact 'we') actually had to be given courtesy vehicles in the first place, and calls into question the actual quality of care bestowed upon your expensive brand new Porsche before you get it, and the thoroughness of OPC PDI's.
Thats a ding in the door for me (noticed in the showroom by myself on collection day), a scratched roof for muzski, and a ripped passenger seat for orbtar. And we're only talking Cayennes here. I wonder how many other stories are out there.

On the same subject but off topic. My friendly dent bloke nipped round the other day to get a ding out of the girlfriends Ka.
He said he'd been over to a major Vauxhall parts distribution centre the day before - to take dings out of BRAND NEW body panels that hadn't even made it on to vehicles yet! He also said that he gets called all the time to main dealers to put stuff right on brand new cars.

So it would seem that every stage of a cars life story is littered with careless gits. From the manufacturing and the dealership, right through to the dead-heads that park too close and proceed to use the nearest body panel on your car as their personal door-stop.

I see Audi are offering the biTurbo diesel engine in the Q5 from early 2013 and calling it an SQ5. I wonder how long it will be before the biTurbo appears in the Cayenne.

Will happen sooner rather than later I guess although I can't see Porsche having both the 4.2 V8 diesel as well as the biTurbo diesel units so I wouldn't be surprised if they ditch the V8 and have the biTurbo in the Cayenne Diesel S.

When you are just about to sign off the final spec it is slightly irritating to know that the highly acclaimed new biTurbo engine could be about to make an appearance but I guess there is always something new on the horizon and you have to place your bets at some point. I will console myself that when it does come out it will probably be much more expensive otherwise they won't be able to sell any of the higher performance (and higher priced) petrol versions.

Always something better around the corner, thats progress !!

From all accounts the current diesel still selling very well, so I still can't see it happening for a while, but it will happen.

Personally the current car has all the power you would need in the real world.

Just my thoughts

I'm still hankering after one of these. IMHO the current diesel is more than adequate.

it's true, it is plenty quick enough. I guess I don't want to feel I'm missing out and also wonder if a new engine might affect resale.

Be interesting to see how things develop with the diesel units. In the meantime I am signing off spec tomorrow so delivery will feel one step closer. smile

As for the scratch and care on new cars - I'd like to personally thank whoever the careless fcensoredr was that scratched mine before I picked it up.

I have just had the most amazing four days with the most ludicrously fast car I will ever drive and I think I still have my licence!! The Turbo S is quite unbelievable and how anyone who has one still has a licence I'll never know but amazing, what a car! If you get a chance - you have to give it a try, it's like riding the best rollercoaster over and over again.

Look forward to hearing all about it.

Do you know how far in advance you have to book? Guess it's worth spending some time in the car before booking so you can save up questions.

They have certain dates available so you just pick one thats free. They've given me a load of dates in July and Aug so I don't think its too far in advance.
If you have purchased a new Cayenne, you get a half-day session at Silverstone included.
