Our Poverty Pork was given a good drive (thrash) on the old A5 to Mytton and Mermaid Hotel (Attingham, Shropshire) this afternoon - lovely car, even if a Tiptronic.Tempted to swap for a manual asap.
Poverty price pleasure with premium product enjoyment ...... ideal :-)
OK, so its exactly a year ago today that I started this thread so thought I'd share an update.
Before i do though, just want to say thanks to the many people that have contributed to this thread, offers of assistance, advice etc and the thread has become a whole lot more than just about Bluebell, its become a real resource for people looking at the lower end of Boxster ownership and on the whole its all very positive.
Well, in the whole its been a great year, have put c8500 miles on her, she started out as an experiment to see if i could go back to a manual car and what I've learnt is that low slung cars I can do but hatchbacks I cant, the less bend in the knee the better, so sports cars can be manuals, hatches / saloons etc will need to be autos.
This does mean that my desire to go 911 can be fulfilled with a manual should I wish.
Truth is though, I have no real desire to currently as even my lowly 2.5 is so much fun in the lanes between home and work that i dont think I need anything quicker just yet, especially as for pure speed thrills I have the bikes
In the year Bluebell has cost me a little, but not too much, I managed to crack the rear screen, so rather than just replace I had Carhood Warehouse in Chessington supply and fit an upgraded roof with heated rear screen to the car, made a big difference to its usability as far less faffing and also freshened up the car as the old 13 year old hood was looking a little tired.
Also put new tyres on and after advice here went for the Falken 452's and they have proven great
The car had its last service at GTOne in Chertsey where it breezed through its MOT with no advisories and although they mentioned a few 'nice to do' jobs they found nothing that was a problem on the car and on the whole were quite complimentary of her.
Bluebell has been engaging, fun to drive, reasonably practical and all in all a great little buy
Onwards we go .....

Am I the only one looking for a bargain basement 3.2 rather than a 2.5 or 2.7? Talk about bang for buck!
All depends what you want it for, I'd have the tidiest example i could find regardless of engine size, if you're doing more A roads and long haul suff then the bigger engines may be better but on a B road blast once I have my 2.5 wound up it sticks like glue in the twisties....Stevej33 said:
Its a 1990 S2 3.0 16v...
Cream leather, elecy hood (that's pretty new & works!) and I believe they are 17" Boxster wheels...
215 fronts & 255 rears...
Handles very well, and pulls good and strong!
Very nice, I'd love one of those .....Cream leather, elecy hood (that's pretty new & works!) and I believe they are 17" Boxster wheels...

And how comes we don't see you in Bike Banter?

If £5k is the benchmark I reckon £5.6k is still just about in for a poor Porker?
2001 Boxster S picked up Saturday, bought unseen (I know I know) as was desperate to have one. Boring story re job/no job but currently all is well so splashed out.
Work needs doing, RMS does leak a tiny tiny bit, overnight last night put a piece of cardboard under the area and this morning there was a small (5p size) spot. That will be looked at first. Suspension seems hard so will have a look at the shocks and bushes as well.
All electrics seem to work fine, one tail bulb out which I shall replace this morning.
One front tyre needs changing, obviously will change both of them and keep the good one as a spare.
First time I'd ever even sat in a Porsche was when I looked at this one. I drove it through fairly busy London traffic to a mates house and was fairly underwhelmed. Then drove it up to Coventry down some lovely back lanes with twists and turns a gogo, just sublime.
Down to Surrey for another load of leafy lanes, brilliant. Handles like a dream, I point, it goes. What more can I ask for?
Very happy with it so far, there are a few stone chips that will need to be looked at, its 12 years old but overall the car is straight, solid and seems to run well.
Very very happy in fact.
Good effort, and my 5k remark was firmly tongue in cheek ...... 5k for some is a shedload of money, and a 30k Porker for others is their definition of poverty .... lol2001 Boxster S picked up Saturday, bought unseen (I know I know) as was desperate to have one. I was just looking at that myself. One of my mates is selling this but a bit out of my price range for its age etc - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321160494455?ssPageName=...
its just well out of range full stop, he is trying to recoup his spend, wont happen, I reckon he'll do well to see £12k for that, and thats being optimistic.Priced about right, needs a good detail, needs a service, and sods law that will be a major, at 60k you may be into discs / pads too and potentially front rads, I reckon you'd need to set aside c 2k to get it as minty as a cherished one ....
Or get a properly looked after one from a respected indy without the risk and a warranty ....

What he said..http://www.carhood.com/porsche/
They did mine about a year ago, had the old plastic window crack so replaced the whole thing with the heated glass version, they did a cracking job, took about 2.5 hours.
I posted this after http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Just got my Poverty Pork))) 2000 2.7 dare I admit £4300 with total main dealer and Indy service history. RMS and IMS all dealt with, just a few parking dings for dent master to sort out otherwise superb. Already own 996 3.6 but the Boxster is better all round. Pics to follow. This thread is excellent but a special thanks to Wheeler Dealers and those that started this thread as between you you convinced me that there really is good poverty pork out there and as the saying goes ' I couldn't afford not to' A very happy Boxster owner.
Nice pics, interesting to hear what you say about the 996 / Boxster comparison and at £4300 that's anice buy, enjoy And it was me that started the thread, glad its proved a useful resource
