then theres the looming cayman 981 which kind of throws a spanner in the works for me cuz i prefer the look of the cayman when the boxster has its roof up (which will be 90% of the time)
No the roof is fantastic - also on the 991 cab aswell I think they both look great now as they follow the lines of the cars much better - A big plus point for me as you said roof up 90% of the time. I love the lines on both cabs now with the exception of the 991 cab roof down as the car reminds me of a large Mickey Mouse slipper.

No dig at the Caymanas a car but I think the rake angle and length of the back is just far too long which makes it look a little bit weird - Hope they change it on the new Cayman.

Taken from my comment on another thread - just too lazy to type it out again.

Got my Boxster S in August - They are hugely practical and myself and my golfing buddy get our 2 pencil bags in the rear boot with 2 drivers and 2 rescue woods plus shoes waterproofs etc no problem at all. Front boot gets 2 massive sized soft ie not hard plastic cases in for our luggage and when the wives permit were off to wherever - Gleneagles next weekend as they have a good 4 ball offer on - What more can be said for the 981 Boxster S - Absolutely brilliant car every day driver / Top speed Hell Racer & even would be great if used on track.

Only bad point is that I have a small family and may be forced to sell due to practical reasons and might have to buy the 991 as it has 4 seats - Bugger that as I think the Boxster is a better Porsche than all of the other models.

So if anyone interested let me know. boohoo

Spec is bountiful with PSE PASM Sports Chrono PTV etc etc
which thread is that?
Boxster S practicality

you selling yours?
I think I may be forced to sell as the wife keeps telling me I also need to ferry the kids about and not just her. A 991 should teach her as thats another £20 grand off the house moving budget.

Mines in build .
When were you offered the driving experience if your car hasn't arrived yet, only asking 'cause I've had mine nearly a month and no invite yet?

Did it come from OPC or PUK?

ta
If I were you I would ring silverstone experience centre and get them to see if your name is down and book on yourself as I waited for ages and then rang them only to find OPC had not put me down on the list. I wanted to drive the car before I got mine as the demo cars had not been released at that point and I didnt know what the car was like at all. There is no harm in being forward as if you wait for other people to do things you may be waiting a very long time.

Stick to the 3 colour principal

Black you cant get away from ie. tyres - side air intakes - grills - steering column etc etc
Principal car colour - Your own preffered choice
Accent colour ie red brake calipers - red seat belts - clocks etc
And a touch of silver for door handles

Laura Ashley stylee.

Possibly a fourth colour to really mix things up? Yellow calipers perhaps ;-)
Would have loved to be daring and gone for yellow paint - yellow painted roll bars - yellow seat belts and yellow sports chrono clock with yellow brake calipers. black leather all round - The 2 colour option

Come on you Guys - Lets get all pictures downloaded and try to get the first 981 meet together as I have only seen one other 981 and I do a fair bit of driving.

I've done it minus the yellow calibers and yellow belts (not practical) but with yellow stitching:

Difficult decision to make for me I'm afraid - Had a 991S for a couple of days to decide whether to swap the 981S in as It would be more practical for me having the 4 seats - Text yes or No to pistonheads.

I just take the e92m3 when I need 4 seats. Or the Tiguan if muddy football boots are involved.

Rather than swap for a 991 I would recommend multiple cars. It's more fun.

How much would the swap cost?
We have the Q7 as the family car but it is very rare that me and the wife get out on our own and always have at least one of the boys with us and so it is that the 981 rarely gets used other than me going for a game of golf but it would be nice to use it with the wife or a nice drive out with the boys at the weekend - It sounds a bit sad but driving on your own gets a bit boring unless you are single and can get away wherever the wind takes you. Cost of change to a good spec 991 is around the 30 grand + mark

Like I said, I take the e92m3 when I need 4 seats. 30k will get you a nice one. Can't beat having multiple cars IMO. Hell, buy a 997 if you prefer pork. I would much rather have a 981 and a 997 than a 991 although I prefer the m3 to a 997 but that's just me.

Driving on your own is the best driving surely? I rarely get chance and revel in it when I do.
No I agree - DRiving on your own can only be done on your own if you know what I mean but enjoying the car with someone else is a must aswell.

How old are your kids? Surely the rear seats in a 911 are of limited use...
I have 3 boys under 5 for my sins.

OPCs might give you a better deal ...
Yes OPC where I bought said mid 50s but that was against a new 991 they had in stock

It should not worry you as I think its a fantastic motor for the money and if you choose to spec it up like I and many others on here then you get what you want but you just end up paying for it come trade in however I think in time you will get a good depreciation depending on how many flood into the UK market over the next couple of years and as always private sales will do much better. My circumstance is that I would be better off with 4 seats but that doesnt rule out buying another motor for when I have to take the kids out somewhere. I have seen a nice bentley for sale and that could kill 2 birds with 2 cars so to speak if I keep the 981.
