Not been posting too much on hear recently. And now i know why. The best bits of advice came in the first part of the thread. If your intrested go and see it and get it checked out (by a reputable specialist). Make up your own mind.
Too many people on here with there own agenda's. Too much supposition.

Agree, burglar just trying to steel a car, then abusing about everyone with a valid point. Post your piece and stop point fighting everyone.

Samba you'll be with me on this one, don't you love it when someone comes to you saying their mate/glasses guide/bloke down the road said their car was worth far more than you offered, but then when you ask them if they'll bid you on it the answer is always the same "he doesn't want it".

I hope he does sell the car, I just hope it gets bought by someone who knows what it is.

Interesting thread,

Assuming the name and shame poilcy is for dealers only, it makes me wonder why some dealers seem to have a vested interest in driving the price of the car down....

Curious, I can't understand why name and shame isn't extended to this type of car/private sale, afteral we'd all end up knowing about it if we wanted wouldn't we.

The name and shame doesn't apply to cars at dealers though.

Indeed. I can only speak for myself, but I'd have much preferred to continue emailing a guy reluctant to answer because he was too busy hiking the price, then take a ferry from Ireland and drive across the UK to view his car, arrange an expensive inspection and then take the ferry home again sans RS. That would have been much, much better than getting a heads up here from people that know the car.

ETA - had I had to travel from Germany, then it goes without saying that I would have liked even more to have to find out about this car first hand. Because after crossing Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and the UK I'd have been really chuffed to find this thing waiting for me.

Have loved following this thread today. Absolutely it's right that we're able to advise on specific cars for sale, good or bad. Naming and shaming dealers is a bit different, cos there's always someone whose had a bad experience and an axe to grind.

I feel bad for the seller, he advertised the car at a fair price awaiting enquiry and inspection, as for a trader assasinating a car on a public forum and then proceeding to make an offer, it beggars belief rolleyes
Hopefully someone will buy the car and continue to enjoy it on track.
In it for the business ...
I do so enjoy letting Keith dig this hole deeper.

And now it seems he has first hand experience of my rectum ?

I'll bet the owner's really impressed Keith --- as for the dealers, you know they are really in competition. Whilst you're wasting your time looking silly here, they are probably doing the real business somewhere else !!

Any purchaser needs good advice --- I don't see any coming from you, do I ?

It only has a Tech9 history, maybe they would be a fair starting point ? I hear that they are very highly regarded, so the car must have had good money spent on it ...

Maybe the car is bent, maybe it isn't. But this inuendo is just not fair.

If a prospectve purchaser is at a distance, I'm sure there would be a local reputable workshop that would perform a formal inspection. If a newer car and a Porsche OPC, this could even form the basis for an extended warranty ?

Just for the record I am not a car dealer never have been or would ever wish to be,I will get the RS inspected by a specialist. I purchased this car in good faith from a dealer with bills to prove it was repaired at TECH 9 and HPI clear, but did so knowing it had been used on a track there are no big or uneven gaps to the panels or is there any oil leaks regarding the engine I have owned three 964 over the last ten years and would like to think I know a little about porsche 911S.
congratulations to you porsche enthusiasts and dealers for your input in discrediting and judging the car before viewing it.

Why don't we settle this once and for all?

Let the seller meet a few people who are clearly in "the know" and then we can all inspect and then post honestly on the PRESENT condition.

No vested interest, just a thought on current honesty...

Just a thought but you could buy a car like this for less money than a "perfect" example and use it ( as you would think you should be doing in any case) and still be in on any price rises 964RSs undergo in the future. If it costs £30k to put right now then it will cost the same in a few years time ( + inflation)

This cars worth more than £18k. The only reason for paying more than £40k for any 964RS is for the factory numbers. Since there doesn't seem much debate that this is the genuine article with genuine factory chassis and engine numbers then it will trade at a premium to 964C2s simply because of these.

It's no more foolish to pay £30K for this than £50k for a mint example.

Loach your buying or so you say a 964RS not a peugeot 106! by it's very nature a limited edition special car. They don't pop up down the dog & duck or the local ford dealer. A fair bit of leg work IS required if you want to look for yourself! The very best way to do this is to actually look at 964RS's for sale a revaltion to you maybe, but true.If you can't do that You could of course pay someone you TRUST to find a suitable car for you but still the ultimate decision to buy will be yours and I'd guess for most sensible people that means looking at the thing too. There are a few well regarded specialists who i'm sure would be happy to help you along for financial reward. What you should not do is make a decision about a car from a wave of internet chatter. Several people have viewed this car in the past (including myself I think a long time ago)they have not viewed it now. Even then there is nothing stopping the viewer acting on there own interests or agenda's. There is also virtually no way of telling just how bent a vehicle is just by looking at it (unless of course it's folded in half laugh ) that's the job of a good chassis alignment rig and a trained eye.
So back to square one the only way to judge this car as it is now is go and look at it YOuRSELF or your trusted specialist. To get first hand knowledge.

Sooner or later , a track car driven in anger will suffer and many 2.7 RSs, 964 RSs and 993 RSs have been seriously bent!

If this was my car, I'd keep it, drive it, have fun, wait and see how the market goes and then decide what to do...

RSs can wear their battle scars proudly! And if they are not prepared to do so, maybe they should stay under cover (no, this micro-scratches the paint, under a carcoon), in a thermo-regulated garage, with a dehumidifier, winterized for posterity.
