Odd thing I have noticed - does anyone have the judder on the steering when on full lock? front wheels scrubbing??? is it a problem that is unique to my car. It is fitted with S 19 inch wheels.
No its not just yours - same problem on all 981 and 991 for that matter.

Feels more like a heavy lean towards negative camber to me. Also I get a cold rush of air through the footwell when going around roundabouts for a split second aswell.

I let my missus drive the porsche once when I had to pick the new caravan up - I told her to go home down the motorway so to keep an eye on her. She listened to none of it and went the back way - As you can imagine I struggled keeping up especially around the bends but I gave it ago as the porsche is my treat and the caravan is the kids. luckily she got home in one piece (the caravan - the missus - and the porsche) I on the other hand was shaking more than the caravan on the back lanes. Trust is so overrated.

Well, she's back and no damage. Happy day.

Funny thing is that someone stuck a "please do not park in this car park it is a private car park' sign on the car when she was at work. She is a nurse practitioner and obviously in some people's minds a nurse couldn't possibly own a Porsche. Bit rude if you ask me, but funny.
You et her take it to a hospital - You need sectioning. lol

Country practice. Makes it even funnier as they only employ 40 people tops so someone has clearly said to themselves, "we'll it isn't one of the doctors and it can't be anyone else's".
If her parking is the same as my wife's its a wonder there wasnt a Police Aware sticker left on the windscreen. lol

The forecasted snow kindly held off 48 hours, so I was able to enjoy my car that arrived on Friday. What a joy! Roll on summer so that those mountain passes re-open...

I took a test drive in a 2.7 last week and am thinking of making my order as I loved it.
it felt alive and exciting, but cant help feeling that the 3.4 would be a better long term bet. Anyone had that experience in ownership one way or the other.
I ask as the car will be a financial stretch for me so would like to think the 2.7 is good enough, but I dont want to buy a lemon.
Not a lemon by any stretch but you will always feel as if you need more power :Thats only if you like to really drive it:

The 3.4 is a fantastic machine without shadow of a doubt - so if budget can stretch - stretch it that little bit further just cut down on the gadgets to adjust the difference - If you can!

I had a Gen 1 Cayman 2.7. I specified £3k of options (Sport, S/C, climate, 18"s) and colour(white) carefully, and after a couple of years ownership sold it in 2 days for the asking sum. On the road I didn't miss the extra performance of the 3.4, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to extend the 2.7 without worrying too much about my licence.

You can lose your licence in a Fiat 500 yet we buy a Porsche - I could understand if it was an unusable amount of power but the 981S is completely usable in the terms of not being a complete and utter gamble of life or death.

I would take a Bugatti veyron over a 981S anyday but my budget does not allow - so if you can stretch it makes so much sense to go for the 3.4 compared to the 2.7 unless you would never ever drive it to anywhere near its limits and I can only think this is where only the wife would ever drive the car.

It doesnt alter the ride height at all visually once you select sport or normal mode however it does give you a completely different setup from sport to normal mode.

I use the stiffer PASM setting in sport mode as it really makes the car feel a lot stiffer than in normal mode which creates more of a sure feel to how well the car handles - So in my eyes I would select it. I have the 20" wheels on mine also to note.

The normal mode is great if you really encounter crappy roads or cobbles etc or you just want to feel as if you are in a luxury saloon not that it is that comfy but it aids the stiffness if desired.

Suggest you look up details of how PASM works, its an active system:

AGREE.

I was stating that it didnt lower the car by 10mm between you pressing normal to sport mode - It just sits 10mm lower than the non PASM set up.

It is not a ride height adjustment - It remains the same between both sport and normal chassis setup.

Not to be confused with SPASM as on the 911.

Neither are the two modes "completely different set-ups".

Yes indeed, it was yours. Presumably that is Agate Grey? Are you enjoying the colour now you've had it a while and in all lights, I love grey cars.

I kind of want one now and might have to ask an OPC for a 24 hour test. It won't be replacing the Cayman R mind, that car is truly special.
Yes MDIan,

Love the colour on the 981s - in fact love the car completely. You can't go wrong with the Agate as I think as always with the grey it will age very well and I think it just looks very expensive and sporty at the same time. You will love the car if you buy one as I don't think you can ever get bored with it.

Still the best I have seen , I was going to go for it when u briefly had it up for sale but u came to your senses before I had a chance !!! Don't blame u as its stunning, frown
Thanks Max,

I like it - No wait I love it but as said before I am not really getting the time in it as the need is more for at least 4 seats. Just ordered the missus a new Q7 tho as we have to ferry the kids around and pull the caravan but still keep looking around and contemplating whether to go for a 4 seat sports car just so I can get more time behind the wheel of something fun. Still I have only seen 2 981's on the road and that was only once and I do a lot of miles.

Maybe I should get a towbar fitted to the 981 and opt for something like this:

Well looks like its Aston or 991 in your future !!! Maybe i will have a chance at your 981 ?? hhaha.. Hmmm like the look of that towbar but think Mrs Lumpy may have other ideas :0
Not the Aston - I love the look but its the engineering which worries me. Funnily enough my OPC is lending me a 991 S tomorrow for the weekend as they are really trying to get me in one - You never know - never say never as I really am still torn to opt for the practicality of the 4 seats 991 S but the 981S is bloody brilliant. Let me know if you really fancy getting in the 981S as you never know I may be chopping it anyway - No i'm not - Yes I might - no i'm not -

I sound like a bi-polar car buyer I know.. wink

with a nice spec i got to 62k - sports exhaust, pcm, seat upgrade, wheel upgrade etc. Are they selling at list or discounts? given that the nearly new cars seem to be 47-52k that would suggest a very quick hit of 10k if i bought new
I have just been offered £58500 for my boxster S at OPC based on buying new 991S which is in stock which listed at £98000 for £93000.

I picked mine up beginning of August which I paid £64500
