Before you buy note that,

  • Bose does NOT have speed variable volume control. It's supposed to achieve that through something called Sound "Audio Pilot" but frankly it doesn't work.
  • The radio volume knob is obstructed by the gearlever in RHD cars (most of the world the driver sits in the left with the knob close to him. not set up for UK)
So, I recommend you get either,

1. The sound plus stereo upgrade and Sport steering wheel (no buttons), or
2. Bose with the steering wheel controls.

Anyway, make sure you try before you buy. I'm annoyed the salesman was much more interested in trying to sell me garbage like Swissvax and Gap Insurance than giving any real help with the stereo.

Thanks, we have decided to opt for BOSE with Steering wheel controls.

Anyone else opt for the 2-zone climate control? Sorry I just read carefully on the 1st few pages and is it confirm that the standard aircon does not have any temp display?

I saw a "Temp" button there but it is only showing the "Level of Temperature (as in Level 1-5)" only?

Does the "Sports Exhaust Tailpipe" improve any exhaust sound or any Horsepower gain? Or this is purely the appearance look only?

By the way, can I confirm to we can add-on the Bluetooth (preparation for mobile phone) without adding the Porsche Communication Management (PCM)?

I stay in a Sunshine state whereby its mostly 35 degree and up most days in the year. the car is like sauna once the parked under a sunny day for no more than 30 minutes. How well it will serve if we opt for the "Seat ventilation" option?

You're right re aircon and Bluetooth.

Pretty sure the pipes are just cosmetic (and very shiny).

I've never experienced these temperatures you speak of in your distant land, but I know the vent seat are not aircon seats. Try asking on Planet 9.

Anyone using an iPhone 5 with the 981s PCM, full phone kit and music connection?

Just checking all works ok before I upgrade.

Hi all I'm new to this and not sure if I'm writing this in the right place! But i'll go ahead anyway! Haha. I'm looking at a 07 boxster s with the 3.4 not the 3.2 engine. Does anyone know how much better or not they are? I've heard the 3.2 isn't reliable and a 2.7/2.9 is a much better option if using every day? Also the chrono package everyone raves about but never actually never says what the hell it is!! Lots of questions, all help appreciated.

My dealer says they've only ever had to dismantle one 3.4 litre engine, which might be helpful to you.

You might have more luck starting a new thread mate. This thread is for the 981.

Hi I'm new to Porsche too, but a few hours reading the helpful comments on this forum quickly informed me that everything is done in factory speak, hence this thread is about the latest Boxster known as the 981 variant. You will need somebody to advise you on at years variant model, a 986 or 987 variant, and as has been said best if you start a new thread.
Somebody will help you, never fails.

Absoloutely. Sorry if my reply looked dismissive, I think many like me in here are gettingt heir first Boxster so wouldnt be much help on previous models.

And, as it would be rude not to, here are a couple of iPhone pics of mine at the dealers today, newly arrived. PSE sounds bloody superb.

Cant have it till next Friday though cos its off to Paintshield tomorrow. :-(

Thanks for all the feedback and ideas. We have finally confirmed the option list as below;

Porsche Boxster 2.7L in White
PDK
Carrera Red leather interior
Black roof
Roll over bar in painted with exterior colors
Mesh wind deflector
Bi-xenon lights
Park assist front and rear
Electric mirrors
Dimming mirror with rain sensor
19inch Boxster S alloys
ISO-Fixed
14 ways Adaptive seats with memory
Multi function steering wheel
BOSE sound system
Dual Zone Climate control
Floor mat
Wheel crest

  • We were hoping to get keyless and Smart key entry option but sad to say that my agent told us the option is no longer available for MY13 Boxster.
This will go into the January 2013 production and should be expecting the car in April.

Cars isn't cheap at the place I lived in so that's all we can afford for now.

Plus 1. Appreciate personal choice but if you are going for red interior, have you consider the red roof? Pictures of that combination on here show it to work very well indeed. Just a thought.

I've done it minus the yellow calibers and yellow belts (not practical) but with yellow stitching:

Thanks for your generous advise. Have considered the red roof quite a number of times but we really think it looks like some Asian country flags (Singapore and Indonesia) when the roof is up. I guess it's just a personal preference.

But really want to thanks all of you who highlighted the colour combi issue and we have made the rollover bar to align with the exterior colour instead of aluminum look.

Wasn't sure why the agent told us the keyless entry option was available, so it's confirmed that all 981 doesn't have this option? It's quite a convinent option and its good to have, wondering why Porsche never offer this option.
