As I say, and being honest, it was more something I want to see work (to reinforce our dominance of the sports car community) as opposed to reacting to any specific request. I see other forums carrying the more technical and specific content and could see no reason why we couldn't accommodate that too.
We tweaked the supercar section a little to reach a compromise, and I'm happy to tweak here too. I don't want to restrict Porsche to one area, but I am happy to listen to how it might work to achieve a mix of what I'd like and what you guys need.
On the back of that does anyone have sany suggestions as to what they would like to see?We tweaked the supercar section a little to reach a compromise, and I'm happy to tweak here too. I'm sure this will be shown to be highly flawed, but if sub-cats are to stay then does this make more sense?

The only thing that annoys me, and annoy is a strong word, but if I click into the 'Porsche General' section I cannot then click the bread crumbs to get back to the 'Porsche' section, if I click the 'Porsche' section it returns all topics within that sections sub sections, if I click on 'General Gassing' I then have to scroll all the way down to the 'Porsche' section and start again.
It's not just an issue with the Porsche section but the whole forum, there is no way of navigating around sub sections without going back to general gassing.

I think it was worth trialling the split forum (and indeed I used to think it would be better this way), but it feels like the amount of discussion has dropped, which is a pity. I would favour returning to a single forum - there's enough commonality of interest amongst Porsche types to warrant it.

Which skin are you using? It's not just an issue with the Porsche section but the whole forum, there is no way of navigating around sub sections without going back to general gassing.
I'm not sure exactly the problem you have, but it's easy to move around subsections:
- as you say, clicking on the Porsche section gets you all threads, in all subsections. If you want to get into a subsection, click on any of the subsection links at the end of each row of the list of threads.
- if you are in a subsection (for example 911/Carrera GT), clicking on 'Porsche' on the 'breadcrumbs' list at the top of the page (PistonHeads » Gassing Station » Porsche » 911/Carrera GT) takes you back to the Porsche section; no need to return to General Gassing.

If I'm in 'Porsche General' how do I go directly to '911/Carrera GT'??I'm not sure exactly the problem you have, but it's easy to move around subsections:

If I click the breadcrumb 'Porsche' which is logically what I would do then I am presented with a merged list of all topics from all Porsche sub sections, as I see it I have to click onto 'General Gassing' to return to the main index and then scroll down to the 'Porsche General' sub section. Like I said no big deal but a simple method of switching between sub sections would just improve things for me.

There is no direct way, but this kind of makes sense given that you'd have to know of the existence of the 911/Carrera GT subsection. If I click the breadcrumb 'Porsche' which is logically what I would do then I am presented with a merged list of all topics from all Porsche sub sections, as I see it I have to click onto 'General Gassing' to return to the main index and then scroll down to the 'Porsche General' sub section. It is potentially only two clicks away though: click on 'Porsche' in the breadcrumbs, then click on the '911/Carrera' link at the end of one of the threads from that subsection (this of course assumes there is at least one thread from the subsection in that list of threads).
Alternatively, set up bookmarks in your browser for each subsection you are interested in and have a single click to any of them.

One Porsche Forum please, it's worked very well so far and I enjoy reading all the posts.
Oooh look, a single view of the Porsche forum with all the threads in it. Just like before.
There is no need for your experience to be any different from that which went before.
Can't see many, if any, advocates for the new sub groups. Also, there are no sticky's in your image either. You can only see those if you go to Porsche general. So the experience IS different then. And surely you can see that there is less chat than ther was before.
I'm with you majordad, one forum please.

But you can't start a topic from that screen can you, maybe that's why it seems a bit quieter in here of late. Besides if we are all using that and doing as you suggest then why not just go back to how it was before, it worked well and was much easier to use, I love all stuff porsche and enjoy threads on all the models.Oooh look, a single view of the Porsche forum with all the threads in it. Edit to add there are no sticky threads on that view either.
