I do think that at the current prices a nice well maintained 996 c2/c4s at the right money is fantastic value, and it would be a great car to be able to do as many miles as you like, in whatever weather it is, leave it out in the rain, park it in the car park shopping without worrying about getting a slight scratch, eat a sandwich in with a coffee going along the motorway and sod the crumbs.
Exactly the opposite of what my 997 Gt3 is now, to expensive to trash.
Though it is bloody fun when i do drive it, i'd most likely derive more overall enjoyment from one I drove all the time????
Like i said earlier, great cars and great value for money, even if i did whoooosshhh myselfExactly the opposite of what my 997 Gt3 is now, to expensive to trash.

10k for me is hardly pocket change but it is cheap enough for me to enjoy the car, drive it how i feel and park it in the supermarket car park without worrying too much if someone parks next to me and dings it. I tend to park towards the back anyway because there is always spaces and I despise hunting for spaces at the front!
I don't know about your financial situation but for me to have had to borrow money to buy a 40k-50k 911 I'd be a lot more worried about just getting out there and using the damn thing!
I've owned 'mint' cars before and it is quite a stressful experience, I like my cars to look good but I would rather have something that was spot on mechanically and 90-95% of the way there with the bodywork as I find the ownership experience a bit more liberating.
