St Pauls often, KCR...L ,parked in hooky space Barbican flats most days ..........BUT today its at Sportwagen , Shoeburyness, receiving very last touches after 2 years ................any Pork sympathisers ,always around for red wine most lunch times , office off Cornhill gives plenty of choice!

No doubt they are no longer a bargain, I wonder in they will reach Ferrari 246 Dino levels (another car which is massivly overvalued in my humble opinion)
I chose a 1978 SC over a DB5, 2.7Rs and 246Dino.....all priced at £5,500....in 1986...
...did I make the right decision?....(6 months later I sold the SC for £9k to a trader....)

I don't know Matt. The engine spec is different (although I'm not sure whether the engines on US spec injected Ts differed from Euro spec Es and Ss...I'm sure someone will know)...so you'd have to source another engine too. I actually preferred my E to a friend's S - more torque in mine and I eventually had it rebuilt with more "aggresive" cams - still not quite to S spec though.
I would love another pre impact in my garage though - they are such a delicate driving experience

For personal use yes but for profit no. For example would cost you a lot just to do the engine upgrade. Would need MFI, different cams, then different pistons to clear the valves, etc. What you end up with is still a hot rod T and they will never be worth the money of an S.
It's the same trying to upspec an S to an RS. Lots of cost but never worth it if you want your money back. For example there is a hot S for sale at around mid 55 because that is what it cost to do the conversion but the car is only worth high 30s maybe 40 at a stretch because of what it is.
It's not the performance that makes them expensive IMO but the rarity of it being an original.
Do it for fun yes :-)

The other thing to weigh in - would you really want to push an original 2.7RS as was intended when it was produced? Same with a 2.4S worth £45-50k... I would be bricking myself about what might happen to all those old parts, which whilst not as fragile as a Fezzas or a Masers, are still old and expensive...
Always thought there might be real value in having a solid, but cosmetically poor 2.0T with a hot-rod motor and thin original tyres just for the amusement value of being able to do whatever you want in it...

The value of these RHD cars is in their scarcity and originality. I am not sure how many RHD 2.2Ss were imported but after quite a bit of research we have only come up with 13-15 survivors. Around 130 RHD 2.4Ss were imported, of which less than 50 appear to still survive. It costs over £30K to restore one of these properly and you should end up with a virtually new car that will take any abuse that Mr Porsche originally designed them for, including commuting into central London (Vic!) or thrashing it around a track, if you can get them through the static noise tests. I am building a LHD 2.2S into an ST replica at the moment, it will cost me close to £50K, but it should be a lot of fun with 220+ BHP and less than 1000 Kg.
