LPG conversion on a Cayenne....anyone done it?
Discussion
I'm also looking to convert a Cayenne S. I'm in London and am looking for a fitter who can help with the conversion.
I visited Tassoe Autogas but I'm nervous as they are not sure what size tank they can locate in the car. I want a tank to go in the spare wheel well as we need our boot space. I'm happy if the floor raises a bit.
I also have the BOSE system and there is a component in there. I think it's an amp. Has anyone managed to neatly relocate it?
I'm also told they want to fit the filler plug near the rear wheel in the bumper. I'd like to keep it in the fuel filler tank if possible.

Just converted my Cayenne Turbo by Euro LPG.
The conversion uses the BRC system with two reducers and yellow injectors.
Runs very smooth and no performance compromise.
The car delivers the same power at high revs as with petrol when two fuel pumps were used.
Switching between petrol and gas is simple flick of a switch.
The tank is in my spare wheel space (BTW no spare wheel for the turbo but still have to remove the sub-woofer to accommodate the 60ltr tank)
Quality of the work is very good and the engine bay looks good. Minor alternation required to the plastic trims (because of the twin reducers)
I have also installed the BRC electronic flashlube system to protect the valves.
Will report back after 1000miles free checkup

Hi Majordad,
I'm assuming that you're considering converting your Cayenne S. Are there any benefits to running LPG in Ireland, regarding VRT and annual road tax, or is it just an MPG issue?
Forgive curiosity, but considering a move back to Ireland and weighing up motoring options!
Thanks,
SYRS

In a retail perspective, there are no advantages in running LPG in Ireland, it's hard to find and expensive. There might be other ways though ( ! ).
Trying to run a Porsche here is very hard. Porsche cars less than 30 yrs old pay Annual Road Fund Tax of between £1100 ans £2000.
Buying the car new first day you pay about 40% of its value in regristration tax, this wont apply to you as you are coming from the UK and own your car over 1 yr .
On the flip side, we have zero property tax, all public travel, trains and busses are free for over 65 s as is home phone and tv license. Vat on food is zero. Quality of life and the craic are good.
And we have a vibrant Porsche Club of which I'm President !

Wow
Those taxes are pretty extreme.... VRT, annual road tax etc etc.... running a high CO2 emitting car sounds like an expensive game!
So it's a Fiat 500 twin air.... or a 911 that's more than 30 years old?
Not such a tough choice!
Hope to see you at some PCI events in the future
Thanks
apologies to all for going O/T

i think the one thing no one has mentioned is that you use really professional companies that have a good track record or customers who can vouch for them, its no good lettin jonny no brains loose on your car as you will have constant problems.
i had a couple of range rover v8s done a few yrs ago an they were great but they were fitted by people who knew their stuff.
also the systems used will make a huge difference so go for a top quality system.
have thought bout doin my grand cherokee 4litre but as it only does about 2000 per annum its not worth the outlay although at 12mpg i should really but cars not worth a great amount now
good luck with it though

No problem if you want to stuff the heads, valves and amy moving part.
LPG is ok in a low cost car, I have it on my Vectra however, all the above has gone on mine.
LPG does not have the normal lubricants and cleaning properties of normal fuel.
My advice, DO NOT DO IT.
what a load of bks. Had mine done, ran for 50k faultless miles. Sold it last year and ive been through 2 other cars since. Looking to go back to one later this year.LPG is ok in a low cost car, I have it on my Vectra however, all the above has gone on mine.
