I moved to the 3.0 to gain racing reliability, rather than performance gain. My old 2.5 racer was capable of running at 400hp, but head gaskets almost became a consumable and I became tired of liners splitting - hydraulically locked engines tend to loose grip on the track uncontrollably frown. That's probably a good indication of the difference in stress levels (thermal/mechanical) between road cars and race cars
How did I miss this post! Superb to hear someone using the car competitively. Hang in there! I’m surprised to hear about your failures?! But like you say it shows what a good test competitive sport really is! How long have you been running with the 3.0 8v setup on track? Is the car like Barry’s (mainly standard parts)? Or have you changed things like intake, turbo, intercooler etc. Have you done anything to improve cooling, larger oil cooler or similar?
I would be really interested to hear your thoughts/findings.

Also for the chap asking about Link systems you can find a very detailed write up here: http://www.cannell.co.uk/Updates%20%20and%20%20Mod... scroll down to see. It’s very long though so in summary I can tell you he was struggling to control fuelling and ended up moving to a different system.
