PCGB 50th Event Cirencester .... another poor PCGB event.
Discussion
Just got back from Cirencester. Wasn't able to take advantage of the advance booking price so paid (happily) £60 at the gate for entry. Got there at 10am and left at 2pm.
All I can say is that I hope everyone at Silverstone had more fun than we did. What an utter waste of money. Hardly any cars, a very small trade village with all the usual insurance agents and double glazing salesmen but nothing of any great interest. Photos below taken just as we left at 2pm
What really pissed me off was Coys. We arrived at 1030am to be told by a big shaven headed tub of lard to "Oi, Go away, its closed", one of the other 'security' men told us it opened at midday. We duly returned at midday to be invited to pay £10 each to enter to look at the auction entries. £60 entry, £30 petrol, 2 programmes at £5, picnic at £25..... £40 to enter the Coys tent. I don't think so.
Time to vote with feet and join TIPEC.
Poor day out, poor value for money and Coys are a miserable bunch of money grabbing b
ds with rude security men.

Sounds as good as the fiasco at Blenheim Palace a couple of years ago. I hopped over the wall to get in without paying at that event.Thank goodness.
I find it hard to believe that PCGB struggle to organise a decent event after the Brands event they laid on some years ago. Whilst I appreciate that event cost a lot of money (and was loss making as I understand it) it was what one imagines a Porsche Club event should be like.
I've previously attended Specialist Cars of Maltons event at Castle Howard in 2003 or 2004 IIRC, that was far superior to the joke that was laid on at Blenheim or the fiasco at Ragley Hall
I've not been PCGB member for some years now. I have to say I feel no sense of loss whatsoever.

Blimey.Didn't know that they were charging to get into Cirencester today. I'd assumed it was just a setting up day ready for tomorrow with the main event today being Silverstone.
Went to Castle Donington instead today and watched a whole day of historic racing with my two young boys.
Free access to the pits to see all the cars up close, son got to sit in his favourite car of the day, an orange 70's Lola T70 on front row for tomorrow. Had our ears blown off by the historic F1 cars 50 yards away. Had a natter with my good mate Paul Howells racing his 73RSR with some suspension trouble, and Mark Bates in the other 73RSR that had a great ding dong battle for the lead all race with a race capri. Watched another race Capri go up in a cloud of smoke right in front of us.
£14 and two 99's with monkey blood.
Will NEVER go to another PCGB annual doo after Blenheim and Ragley......learned my lesson a long time ago and haven't been let down yet...
PS why the hell they didn't combine their annual doo with this historic race weekend at CD I don't know? It was suggested strongly to the Directors I do know that. Would have been a great fit.
