Just seen one of these. What exactly would that be? And don't say GT3RS with a ducktail. It looked lovely and sounded even better.

Sure it wasn't a Sport Classic? If not, it's a GT3RS with a ducktail ;-)

I knew someone would say that. No, it wasn't a sport classic. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that has bubbles in the roofline so I checked and this one didn't. Obviously, could have been a Carrera with GT3 bits and the ducktail. Looked nice and tasteful.

Any picture?

I'd love to see a 997GT3RS with ducktail...if it looks good I could be tempted.
Personally not a fan of the 3.8/4.0 skeleton rear spoiler...not that mine (997.1RS) is any prettier frown

sorry, no pics. A nine quid mobile doesn't quite run to a camera. Will teach me to be a cheapskate. I don't think the wheels looked quite like Ruf but only because I think of them as always being like the Yellowbird wheels. These looked more BBS if anything. A vague idea that they may have been black in the middle. Other than that you may have a point.

To be fair, there are plenty of folks who think you look like a twunt on a car with a spoiler like the RS, it wouldn't seem unreasonable that there's someone out there who bought a ducktail lid off Porsche to use on day to day driving, only to put the ironing board back on for track days.

Would it mess with the ram air intake?

Just checked that there internet and the ducktail looked exactly like the sport classic ducktail, if that helps. Which it doesn't.

I always thought Porsche should offer the GT3s with a low aero option. If I were in the market for one I would remove the upper portion of the wing. I know the wing adds significant downforce but only at high speed and since I don't do track days, I wouldn't get much value from it.

I would however love that engine and chassis so a standard Carrera wouldn't do it for me.

It would almost certainly be an aftermarket part as Porsche supposedly won't supply the SportClassic ducktail unless it is a replacement on an actual SportClassic. I have certainly seen pictures of a 997GT3RS with a ducktail from the US before, so it is certainly possible (though the aero balance would be out at speed).

+1 would love a low aero package for daily use and a add-on iron board when needed.

If you remove the upper large spoiler it does have a ducktale look and a look of a sport classic.....

surely the ducktail messes up the RSs rear downforce .. it can't generate the same downforce as the huge standard spoiler, can it?

In my pics they just unscrewed the wing. Nothing added or removed beyon that. Would assume messed up areo. But so much better looking.

Just how fast do you need to be going before you get the benefit of the wing? More than 70 mph?
