Hi,

I'm trying to locate a deactivation bar for my 2002 Boxster so that I can fit a child seat. Anyone got one they don't need or use anymore? Also, while I'm here, any ideas on the best non-Porsche child seat to get??

Make sure you get the extended bolts to go with it when you finally track one down.
Otherwise you'll have to order them from an OPC and they cost about £20.

Yes I have one

Removed from my 2004 C4S

Perfect for deactivating the passenger seat airbag and using your own child seat instead of having to use a Porsche seat.

£100 delivered

Great. That's a big help.

Can you give me a call (07811 445 076) or email (danmallaber@hotmail.com) and we can arrange payment and delivery?

Quickie question on these. I'm planning on getting one fitted to my 2008 Cayman on Friday at the OPC. Don't want to take any risks - they are quoting just over £500 inc. VAT (cheaper than the next best quote I received from a further afield OPC).

With the airbag switched off you can just use a booster cushion and the regular seatbelt right?

Many thanks,

Jon

Are these bars suitable for the cayman? I had the airbag deactivation kit fitted to my old 06 plate boxster and it was a key on the end of the dash with a light on the centre console and iso fix brackets?

I think the bars are for the older cars 993/986 etc?

But to answer the question you can use a booster with the regular seatbelt, but with the bar fitted you will need a buckle in it, this is what deactivates the airbag. No buckle in the airbag bar = airbag on. The buckles come on the Porsche seats, it looks as if the bar in the photo has had a buckle added to it.

Thanks, as you say, they are fitting a key switch available when you open the passenger door. They also said it comes with Isofix mountings - but don't really need these.

Bars is only for 996 & 986, later ones were key operated hence the bigger price

Do you have carbon fibre centre console? Do a search on here as a member had this fitted to a car with CF options and OPC fitted tape round the light which the OP was concerned about.

Just a heads up.

No carbon, my console is body coloured (silver) rather than the standard black.

Thanks,
