Been quoted £1500 all round for genuine Porsche parts from an Indy.

What's that price like? Good, bad or average. How long do they normally last mine coming up to 48k miles

  • Subject meant to say Front and Rear disks and pads****
This is for a 997 Carrera S

Which Porsche and does this include fluid change? Are these Porsche or OEM parts?
Seems a lot especially if OEM.

This is for a 997 Carrera S. no oil or service this is just front and rear brakes and discs using genuine Porsche parts

Sod the OEM stuff!

Go on the Design911 or Porsche Shop and get some Pagid or as good as OEM discs and pads

Get a jack, buy some new strecth bolts and do it yourself smile

Sorry I meant brake fluid change,

I'd ask for a quote for OEM parts rather than Porsche parts. According to the Indy I used for my discs/pads for a 993 (SVP in Droitwich) quite often OEM come in the same box with Porsche on the box ......... But at least 30% cheaper. They are all made on the same production line.

For my last change, I bought OEM discs from design911.com - they arrived in Pagid boxes. Half the price of their Porsche discs and from use, just as good.

Just bought Pagid rears for a Turbo (330m) and they cost me 75 each.

Pricing thanks to a tip by a member on here, check out my previous started threads.

Pads, look to Ebay for Mintex or similar. I don't recall but I think I paid around 40 quid.

So that's a nominal 200 for the bits and if you have the inclination you can replace these yourself in a couple of hours max for an inexperienced person.

You may also need the wear indicators (not expensive) if the warning light came on. Apparently, I have read.

Thanks for the link to the rear discs, I need some too as mine are getting a lip and look a bit scored up.

Cheers

I was told non Porsche disks warp and don't last as long as genuine Porsche disks and pads.

Is this bulls#t?

Must be, seeing as Porsche don't make discs therefore genuine Porsche discs do not really exist.

All the Porsche Discs and Pads are either made by Pagid or Textar. 9 Excellence changed all 4 discs and pads, shims, wear sensors, flushed and filled with racing brake fluid and fitted braided hoses for less than the OP has been quoted .... And yes they were absolutely outstanding afterwards - like night and day! biggrin

What model was that for?

my quote was for genuine parts at an indy, OPC wanted closer to £1700

997C2S - all I specified was the stuff must be OEM and I think everything they fitted was Pagid. I have been assured that as long as it's Pagid or Textar it's exactly the same as what's in the Porsche boxes but without the part number or logo and certainly they look identical ..... spin
