Hello all,

Ive got a feeling that my pccb's are on the way out/not performing to their best ability and ive got some feelers out for prices on Brembo's and PF's already, but in your opinion, is the front right one on its way?

Looking at the pic, I'd say the RF is already gone - the surface should be perfectly smooth (like polished). The left is not far behind the right one in terms of dying by the look of things. All in my opinion of course... Sorry...

There should be a min weight or thickness written on the disc bell somewhere, that's the decision made, but they will need taking off and to bits to weigh them, so you might as well put some new steels on while it's all in bits..!

Those look like the earlier Gen 1 PCCBs, so c. 10 years old?

How many miles and how much track use did you get?

2004, 26k miles, of which 13k are mine, think theyd done a couple prior to my purchase and only 1 in my ownership (3 years), so say 5/6.

The right was better than the left at one stage and then just went down hill

That's piss-poor performance for discs that at one time were described as lasting "the life of the car".

Interesting.

The later PCCBs were significantly improved in terms of construction, manufacturing, durability, cooling, rear bias and softer pads.

Hi there

They looked fried. I'd imagine your eating through pads pretty quickly.

I do have a spare set of front ceramics, gen2's from a 2006 C2S, which I suspect will fit your car, though you'd need to double check, if your interested drop me a mail at Gibbo205@hotmail.com

26k miles!

Wow, I'd expect nearer 126k from PCCB rotors with no track action...

For comparison here are my front set at 25k miles. I brake late and hard.

I LOVE CERAMICS PERFORMANCE!!
Just had to get that off my chest but am continually warned that the rears will go quickly. Anyone got a pair they want to get rid off? [Gen 2]

Thanks for the offer but ill be going to steels so i can start heading back out on track.

Carl - but yours are generation 2, mine are 1. My rears are alot better condition but then it more forward brake biased in a 996

No worries bud, I thought I would sling a pic up for comparison.

The track junkies on here swear by the latest aftermarket iron discs for the gt3, there is a thread on here somewhere from a month or so ago where people talk about the replacement kits. If I were you I would bin the ceramics for a set of those.

Alternatively you might want a look at Alcon CCX discs and pads. Direct swap replacement for OEM, similar price, at least as good as the PCCB's in terms of performance on track, and best of all they're a solid material rather than a coating and thus are both more robust and capable of being skimmed a few times if the surface does get damaged.

i could do but looking at the cost $21k for front and rear, think ill just stick with going to steels and some rim wax to try and keep the wheels clean.

Thanks all the same though
