Looking for some clarification from the PH experts. My 997 was registered sept. 2004. Current OPC warranty runs out August 2013. Will it be possible to extend for 1 year before it runs out or will it be ineligible as it will be 9 years old in September ?

AFAIK, you will be just about OK. But not sure on this one - this is Porsche we are dealing with.

Up to the day before its ninth birthday, it is fine. Check the exact date of registration and warranty.

Exact day is 23 September 2004 for first registration. Current warranty ends August 2013. I have been told today by OPC that they will not extend.

What if you extend it now?

That's the point they are not allowing me to extend now even though I offered. Seems bizarre but means I need to quickly find another vehicle before warranty runs out as I don't fancy driving a gen1 997 outside of a warranty.

Really, how bad has it been?

Did they say why they are refusing to give you a 12 month warranty? has the car reached 125,000 miles? If not, the car is eligible right up until it's 9 years old. There should be nothing stopping you tagging it on to the end of your current warranty.

Car has done just 30k miles. I agree I had read it like you but the OPC was adamant. May need to speak to customer services myself.

If they don't want your business, stuff em!

There are a good few excellent Indy maintenance plans which you could join.

I would do that.

Doesn't sound right. I extended our car (Registered in August 2004) in June this year.

The documentation reads that you can extend up to the cars 9th birthday. Email sent to me before renewal said:

You are able to purchase a one or two year Porsche Approved Warranty provided your Porsche is not more than 9 or 8 years old respectively and mileage has not exceeded 125,000 miles, subject to a 111-point vehicle condition check (which may be charged at a fixed cost of £180 +VAT).
