Evening all,

My key has been slowly dying and has finally given up the ghost, I can open the car the old fashioned way but it easier with remote, not 100% sure it's just the battery as swapped it with another (which might be dead too)
Assuming its not the battery where do I get a new one? Is it an expensive trip to a main dealer? My car is the 996 facelift model if that makes any difference?

Many thanks,

G

New battery would be a good start. I normally change key batteries every year. I also make sure that both keys are used at least once each month. I believe that if one key is not used when the car has done more than a certain numbers of cycles with the other key, the unused key will fall out of sync.

I had this happening on both my keys.

It's the button welded onto the chip which comes loose.

It's either a bit of soldering iron and swearing or a new thing called "PCB".

I stuck the little thing down with double sided tape and it's worked since.
