Is it possible to make local repairs and paint to remove stone chips etc(and I don't mean the garage on the corner).I would imagine that when stone chips occur they remove the galv coating on the steel as well. So if your bonnett and sills are chipped are you going to end up with a patchy coloured car if you dont respray the whole thing. My car by the way is a 85 930 in white.

Cheers

I have just gone for a re-spray for just this reason, and that its winter time.

Although the chipping seems inevitable, i could not keep saying to myself it adds charactor to the finish and having seen spirited attempts at re-touching paintwork i thought not
it look worse than not having bothered

Try 'Chips Away' they have franchisees all over the country and Porsche GB use them in Reading for small jobs that don't require a full-on respray. Prices vary but expect £60-100 a pop
