When I bought my 993TT in April I looked at all the various Tracking companies. I eventually decided to have RAC Trackstar installed, possibly because of the optional add on of "Safe Speed" GPS Gatso warning.
I (and all other customers) have just received written notification of an immediate increase in the annual subscription to "Safe Speed" of 25% !!!
Admittedly this is only another £24 per year and I will continue with it (as it is more cost and hassle to move entire tracking capability to somewhere else).
However I have called and registered my displeasure at how a 25% increase can be justified. Seriously believe they realize that most will just have to like it or lump it!. Not impressed by RAC Trackstar.

Dave - We had a Subaru with this device mainly because of the speed safe device. My own experience has led us to decide that never again will we have a Trackstar.

We had numerous problems with the Speed Safe aspect of the system (i.e it didn't work) and despite have an engineer out twice they could not fix the problem. The downside was that it never inspired confidence that the actual unit was working. Indeed on one occassion the car was parked on the driveway and they couldnt find it.

Id make sure that it is definately working before letting them take the additional money

bought my 996tt 4 months ago. I've written to these muppets three times since then advising them that previous owner no longer keeps the car, but they will NOT respond.

I'll gladly be paying more for the insurance without the tracker subscription when the renewal comes-up!!

Quite rightly, too. How do they know that you've not stolen the car? The previously registered owner needs to write to them to give them your details, I would imagine.

...or send them a copy of the registration document showing your name and address.

should have said that I send reg. doc. both times. notwithstanding that, its not for them to just ignore any communication of that type - the letters went on my company headed paper (professional) and why couldn't they contact the previous keeper to check !!?? they are crap so far I am concerned !
