Crusing through the M25 roadworks in the 993 yesterday at a licence safe 40mph. Very relaxed, holding the wheel loosely with one hand at 20 past 4 position, yes I know! Had to brake as the numpties bunch up in front due to a Gatso, and got a shimmy through the steering wheel. I put that one down to the road surface. Bit further on, got the same thing again, this time on new smooth tarmac. Experimented for the rest of the journey, and it does it every time I brake. Normally I would have a firmer grip on the wheel so haven't noticed it before.

Any ideas as to what the cause might be?

Worn discs? Uneven pad deposit on discs? Corroded discs?

Have a look at your discs and look for signs of wear (usually blue/grey lines) - run your finger down the disc and see if you can feel "ridges" or dips - if any of that your discs are worn unevenly and may need replaced depending on how old they are.

Or is there the imprint of your brake pad anywhere? It may be that you sat for a while with your foot on the brake when they were hot and "burned" some pad material onto the disc - if so, this can wear off over time...

But not when hot....ouch!!

Sounds like warped discs.

Had something similar not long after I replaced disks n pads a while back. Most noticeable with gentle deceleration on motorway.

Speaking to OPC about something else I mentioned it and the Service Manager said that there is a tendency with current pad composition for small amounts of detritus to build up between pad and disc. Firm application of brakes from speed seems to clear it up for me.
