Just thought I would start a poll on the new GT3 with a manual vs PDK slant

You don't have to say why you made your choice but I would be very interested in seeing the results of this poll as there has been lots of talk about new porsche GT buyers being lovers of the PDK but the GT4 seems to go against that trend as we all know the demand for that car.

Also, this poll may give some guide on what will be available on the used market in a few years.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I voted for used with a manual gearbox

Really really tough choice. I'm very happy to be back in a *good* manual car again, but PDK is so flipping good, and I don't always feel in the 'driving' mood. PDK is the best of the lazy world, and a good tool if you do want to play Lewis Hamilton for 30 mins.

Pushed for answer today... I'd have to vote PDK

I might buy it new as manual if I can't get my hands on a 997.2 RS at reasonable money ...

Bit academic as we probably won't qualify for the new "buying criteria". confused

I'll pick up an R for below list once the .2 GT3 manual has been launched. ;-D

On a serious note - manual, manual, manual. Oh and did I say it needs to be manual.

New.

Be interesting to see whether PDK S is a no cost option over 'manuel'.

I would pay £1500 max extra for PDK S, otherwise would go 'manuel'.

I suspect 'manuel' GT3s would residually be stronger, both clubsport and comfort specs, short and long term time frames.

Reckon new sales would be 50:50 either gearbox.

I would take manual. Personally I'd like to see no option for PDK on this car with it being reserved for the RS.

I'll probably take a manual as I find PDK on the road just means I too often leave it in manual or I go like the clappers manual mode. With a stick I find I'm more sensible and can just enough the process of driving.

I am tempted at 170-180k Euros (even though they were 110k not so long ago) as I think it is unlikely that I will prefer the new GT3 to it (bigger and likely heavier, more tech, no mezger, not an RS etc)... might have to make some money first though as I would need a lot of finance to buy now (which makes me a little nervous at current valuations, not that I plan on ever selling)

so - if I had the cash, I'd probably be down at Porsche buying one even if I find 170-180k rather punchy for a car that imo is not really a collector car in a "normal" market (not that mine would be interesting for collectors anyway as I plan on modifying it / maybe turning it into a 997 "R" type car, so a little less in your face than the RS - definitely no Stickers and possibly only with the "ducktail" as it would not be a highspeed/Autobahn car anyway, so not all the downforce needed). I would like to find one with as many lightweight Options as possible though (incl seats, lights, PCCB)

I would not buy at the 200k+ prices a lot of them seem to be listed at - that is too much imo.

Will probably still buy one on finance as life is short etc and modify once I have paid off the finance

that was a longer reply than planned, esp has the first 5 words would have sufficed ...

As great as PDK-S was, I found it rather dull. It was a huge mistake in my opinion and I think this is borne out by the popularity of both the GT4 and 911R. AP stated that some of the reasoning behind the 991.1 GT3 was to increase "bandwidth". That goes to show how GT cars were perceived before their values started going through the roof. Time to scale back the bandwidth methinks.

Manual - definitely!!!

Been using the company auto BMW pool car recently then went out in the missus' A3 tdi manual - it was amazing how much more fun that was let alone 500bhp's worth of gt3.

A total no brainer for me

Good to see the results so far, looks promising for used manual buyers.

I was a little worried there might be a great many more people looking for a used manual car than buyers buying new ones.....there still might but its good they will at least have a choice.

This is a small sample of votes and is possibly skewed but it is showing a difference in new and secondhand buyers.

New buyers are fairly evenly split but secondhand buyers want a manual!

This rings true doesn't it? And therefore the manuals will be worth more?

It would be interesting to learn how many of the voters have bought the preceding GT3s from new. That way it's not so much an aspirational vote but one based on an actual GT buyers' preferences. Likewise for used.

I would assume it's a hypothetical question, as any details about any future GT3 are all conjecture at the moment.

I wouldn't buy one new, but gave my answer if I were to buy one further down the line, and yes I'd want a 'manual'.
