The car needs a full geo setup for track, which will cost circa £500! Having read about Manthey and JRZ suspension upgrades, I am considering having it done. They appear to be rated highly, so why waste money having a geo setup, when I will only end up moving to a full suspension upgrade in the end.

I would like to understand the difference in handling characteristics between the standard suspension(properly setup), Manthey and JRZ, for both track and road. Also, any difference in lap times. Any improvement on tyre wear? Braking efficiency? etc.

Thanks,

Mark

Guys am I missing something here? Has this been covered in depth? If so, can someone point me in the right direction as I have searched not found anything detailed.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

You might find it a little quiet regarding GT3's for the next couple of days as a lot of the regulars are at Spa.

As for your suspension setup - Manthey, JZ & Parr apparently have different options so you might want to speak to them all.

Cheers

Mark,

If you intend to use the car more on the road than the track then try a geometry first along with a good set of tyres.

I have driven a JRZ equiped car on the road and it was very "interesting" to say the least. You can adjust the shocks quite easily I have been told for road and track.

Best bet is to come along on the 9th to Bedford and have a ride in the Manthey JRZ standard and standard with geometry cars and see what you reckon.

My car has a JZ set up with Corsa's and it is very good both on and off track.

More than happy to take you round.

Is your car Ginger Deans old stead? if it is that has a Parr set up on it already.

Hope his helps.

Paul,

Who is running the event on the 9th June? Certainly makes sense for me to get a ride in a few different cars before taking the plunge.

My car is "Ginger Dean's" old car - and yes it had a Parr setup, but he had them put it back to factory standard to sell!!!

Never mind, this way I hopefully can compare all - JZR, Manthey, well setup and my car. I think I will go and buy some Corsa R's for the event this way everybody will be running on the same/similar tyres.

I will definitely take you up on the offer of a lap or two.

Cheers,

Mark

After lots of discussion at Spa, my conclusion, is that the Manthey is great, especially for the ring where it needs to be just that little bit more compliant. But after going out in Steve Rances JRZ set up, it's much stiffer, and on smooth surfaced tracks, it's awesome.

I'm gonna try and stiffen my Manthey up if i can, but this will make its raod manners eve more interesting !!

You need to try beofre you buy IMHO.

Glenn,

Thanks for the input. Of course it makes sense to try them all out, and what better place to do it than at Bedford on the 9th.

Will you bet there?

Maybe, A bit over budget on the track stuff this year, especially after just coming back from Spa !!

My Corsa's haven't lasted as long as i was hoping, so i'm working up the courage to mention it to the missus !!!

If i do make it, give me a shout and i'll give you a few laps, and you can feel the Manthey kit for yourself.

Glenn, that would be fantastic, much appreciated!!

I'm glad to hear I am not the only one who gets it in the neck for spending way too much money on cars and track days!!

Just need someone with JRZ suspension and I am sorted.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

Come and find me and I will take you out for a few laps, you will have no problem getting a ride in one of the JRZ equipped cars.

Tip, if you go out with Rance take a sick bag.

:-)

Cheers Paul.

Rance - I heard he was slow - that's what us CSL boys think anyway!
