I've done a search on the forum but all I can find is the Porsche Prince which is discontinued and the Britax Freeway which wont fit. Any other suggestions please? I need one for a 9mth old baby that fits in the back.

Get yourself down to a specialist baby supplies shop or somewhere like John Lewis. They'll have a database of what fits what and if your car isn't listed, they'll happily try a few for size.

I think all the seats fit the rear of 996 other than the 0 - 18mths one which will only fit in the front. The 9mths - 7 yrs one fits either front or rear here is the link http://www3.uk.porsche.com/english/gbr/accessories/911teq/kindersitze.htm

Any rear facing seat will fit in the back (but it does mean pushing passenger seat forward a bit) ... fyi we had a Chicco rear facing seat that fitted fine. Problem is when they migrate to forward facing seats. That's when you really have one choice = Porsche seat.

I know Barry993TT has probably seen this which I posted a few months ago, but text below line may help others.

The outcome was that I bought the Recaro Start along with the impact cushion (needed for younger children). I got lucky and bought a demo model cheap, but Halfords had a deal that sells seat and impact cushion together for about £195.

I fitted it (with MP3 plugged in via optional cable for about another 7.99) and it worked great. Promptly went on a 1500 mile trip through Germany France and Luxembourg - (incl. Nurburgring without child or seat but thats another story !!). The seat was perfect, reclined, my daughter slept, loved the music and all was well. Passenger seat was well forward but fortunately my wife is not too tall.

For a 993TT you will need to check as it did just touch the pillar in the 996, so could be tight. Check front leg room too. Otherwise I would recommed this seat. Not cheap but good quality.

Text posted a few months back below for info.....

The recaro start is for 3 1/2 yrs upward, but the 'pro' enables the use of an additional impact cushion which enables younger children to safely use the same seat, and when they are old enough to dispense with the cushion and just use the seat alone. Costs are £189.99 (same price everywhere) + about another £30 for the separate cushion. Halfords sell the same seat except using a slightly different model name (still recaro). A big advantage is the same seat can be used until they are much older without the need to change. It also has inbuilt speakers in the headrest, - another reason I intend to buy one, so the adults don't have to listen to the music we all play to them once in a while. The recaro gives pretty good leg room as it sits further back than the Britax.

The Britax should fit according to most people but in my car it just doesn't. I think something must have been changed (maybe 996 2002 facelift cars on ?) but the buckle touches the seat badly causing twist which can also be quite dangerous. If you have a car it will fit they are good value at £45 for last years fabrics in Halfords.

On the Porsche Prince, this the same thing I believe as the Britax Romer Prince. Porsche no longer sell this exact model, but it is about £170 delivered from the Porscheshop (.com I think). HOWEVER if you can live with the old type fabric, then Citroen still sell this at £111 and one place is discounting it at £95. Try www.citroen.slatersparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=325

The other piece of info is that very late cars and the 997 come with isofix points, and the seats are £300 +. Apart from the mounting, this is essentially the same seat you can buy from Citroen at £95 !!

I hope all this info. saves someone the hours I have spent searching, and thanks to everyone who contributed.

Slightly diverging, but is there a kiddie seat that works with racing harnesses or am i having a laugh? I feel sure my son will want to go out in the 964rs as soon as he goes forward facing, but is it possible?

Although the Porsche prince isn't available anymore, Mercedes do exactly the same seat for half the price, I paid about £94 new. Isn't as attractive though.

I think it is designed for 9 months onwards, and even then they do seem to slump forwards a little.

I spoke to a chap recently who had two seats in the back of is 997, but again his youngest was about a year old. I think one was a britax.

Thanks a lot for your advise and recommendations guys. We went to John Lewis at the weekend and managed to find a couple that fit so just in case anyone needs to know for future reference, give the following a try:
- Maxi Cosi Priory XP
- Mamas & Papas Pro-tec
