We've been out with our camera: following yesterday's story about the upcoming Porsche 911 Turbo (997), due to launch at the Geneva Show in February, PH's spy-shooters have come up with shots of the car undergoing winter testing.

Looks like a 911 for sure. But the big question has got to be, how many BHP are under that new retro whale tail?

I like the larger rear spoiler. Bit unsure of the front though.

My guesses are around 480hp...sounds oké to me, but knowing that some cars like AMG and BMW doing around 500hp they might be tempting to do the same although the porsche don't realy need that 500 because its also lighter...
As seen on the photo's I also like the wheels and the roof details! look at the nicely redisignd? roofraingutter?...very airstream optimised, and the mirrors too.

Nice photos, I agree the front is a tad fussy but on the whole it looks alright, I wouldn't say no...

Surely they will go with the 500bhp The last one was what 420bhp up to 450 or so with the upgrade, 500 sounds about right they might leave it at 480bhp to leave some room left for the x pack upgrade or whatever it was called though.

Me too - though I think 460/500 upgrade option.
At the end of the day it doesn't need 500bhp standard to compete with hyper Mercs / M5's etc as it will have monster torque as the 996 TT does which will make it easily as fast & probably a lot faster.

I think the front bumper is overstyled; not a fan of the small fogs at the extreme sides of it, but you'd have to say it has prescence. Rear looks nice and beefy, spoiler is great. Hopefully 500bhp and not a shetland more, because I personally would like to see manufacturers striving to make the best of such (cough) modest numbers, focussing on driving fun and tech like the japanese makers did when they were at a gentlemans agreement over 270bhp. Limit, perfect, and then expand later on when I'm old and rich enough to be (skilled) nut driving monsters like the 700hp base 911 circa 2020.

Yeehahs!

Any news on the width?
I would assume it uses the same rear haunches as the C4S, like the 993 & 996 does.
Difficult to tell in these pics.

I like the look of it although I think the rear valance and the exhaust pipe area needs some more work

I love those wheels, very different to the usual porsche signature, but don't look bling. Very nice

MMM! Sorry to disagree with you all, but I find the look not as good as the 996tt with the aero kit. The air intake on the rear side reminds me of a boxster, the rear spoiler is just a copy of an old style. The front lamps look cheap. I have also hear from a good source that the engine will be the same as the 996 in every way except a chip tune! to give it around 500bhp. Wheels do look much better though and I am sure despite its looks it will be a creaking car to drive.

I dunno, Porsche's are usually well put together, they don't usually creak....

I think based on the 996TT engine rather than "the" 996 TT engine.
It would save them a packet on engine development though, just to chip the 996TT engine & it would be reliable, but doubt very much the 996TT engine will just be dropped into the 997TT.

I think it is a disappointment and its a shame they haven't moved the game on. These aren't the best pictures but it seems they did the 996TT and then ran out of imagination. Here speaks a Porschephile.

The alloys look sensational, but the front fogs spoil it for me.
