ohh boy does she fly, and strangly doesnt feel like its going fast . . . . . I cant explain that part its a bit weird, but possibly the car to remove you from your licence.

Never a truer word said... at least with X50 power there is a little lag and then you are off but with these beauties the power is seemless and therefore you do not seem to notice it - until you try and slow for a bend and realise you are carrying 15mph more than you thought you were...

15mph more!

ermmmmm I was thinking more along lines of 60+ more, I thought there would be a kick from the turbo, no such thing, I thought the power would noticaly change, no such thing, I didnt realise the car would just pull and feel like a NA car.. . . . . . but then again i was only in the passenger seat.

Blimey mate - if you don't know whether you are going 50mph or 110mph... you better order up a Fiesta Diesel.

996tt has negligable lag either but im sure you know that after you previous comments...tt experts have even commented that the 997tt has more lag than the 996tt which is a surprise with the VGT technology on the 997.The 996tt engine has very little lag hence the extremely flat torque curve..that is why i get pissed off with some of the comments on this forum regarding the superiority of a 911 NA engine over a 996tt engine. The 996 tt engine is the same but more..imo of course.soapbox

the 996TT I drove you could feel a little lag/kick of power but this was something completly different, the GT2 though (which I didnt drive just had a breif passenger run in) was also a very clean power delivery and very very very fast I must add but the 997 TT, as in the complete package felt like it wasnt doing anything, the 997TT didnt feel fast, but for sure it was going some, the GT2 however felt insanly fast. . . . . . . but in a good way I hope you understant.

I understand but feeling fast and going fast are different things..My 1986 gsxr 750 felt quick too coz it had no brakes and the frame had a hinge in the middle. The gt2 i drove was great fun but i wouldnt have wanted to go quick in it apart from perfect conditions and the main grin factor was how wild it was...

First things first - wow what a fantastic looking car. You must be nursing a very significant semi at the moment!

The only experience I have of a TT is the 996 S I drove a month or so ago. It did have lag but not as much as I was expecting and I would echo DG's comments about speed perception - it totally freeked me to realise I was travelling at a speed far faster than I actually assumed I was.

The funny bit was that the owner of the car got a bit uncomfortable at 130 - he had owned the car for a while but had never broken two figures yikes (all on private roads of course)

Must say though I was a little dissapointed with the exhaust note on the standard car.

DG you have a sports exhaust on your car 996 I believe. How does the 997 TT exhaust note compare?

The exhaust note is quite understated bland at least compared to my DB9 which positively smashes windows at more than 4000 revs but as mentionned before the power delivery on the 997tt is seamless and you very quickly hit 100 miles an hour without noticing it - on the Autobahn off course.

The 997tt does seem to have a little more lag than the 996 version - which doesn't seem like progress to me.

the exhaust note was quite to be fair and this added to the feeling of not going very fast.

mine howls after 4k rpm but the turbo's in this obviously quieten the car down ALOT.

not saying its a bad thing but it is definatly alot more stealthy.

not sure about this, the 996TT I drove had the x50 pack on it, so mabe the non X50 pack 996's dont lag? cant comment on this, never been in one.

but it would be strange the X50 996 having noticable lag and the GT2 not having lag surely?

Nice Pics Gaz The 430 does sound sweater but the Dark Destoyer has a Very Smooth Power Delivery that has a deception on the speed you are travelling at.
The 430 Goes and Sounds like you really are doing those speeds!

Either way both great Cars!

Not sure where GT2 comes into it? I was saying 997tt has more lag than (standard)996 version

No. I'm completely sure that 997tt suffers from more lag than 996tt. Just didn't understand why you brought GT2 into your response.scratchchin

i brought the GT2 into my response becuase it is also a 911 turbo variant that I have been in, there's nothing cryptic about it.
