It seems to me that well sorted 'early' 996's haven't dropped in the last while ... I'm still seeing '99/'00 cars at similar prices to what I payed for mine this time last year....Obviously there's a grand or 1500 to come off the sticker price , but that's not a bad loss in a year!!
Also obviously it'd be easy to find real cheapo's out there , but I'm talking about mid mileage models with full service histories (especially if it's all OPC), and in showroom nick..

well, with these revalations that the 993's suffer from RMS failures also - we can only hope this will make the 996's as impervious to depreciation as the 993's...

or in the worst case, just make the 993's depreciate like the 996's...

hehe

They do seem to have bottomed out.

2000 cars with FPSH in good condition seem to have levelled at around £30k ish from Indys and £34k at OPC.

Privately around £27k.....

I hope the 996 residuals stay strong - my baloon payment is dependant upon such - as are my nads if Mrs C2 realises we are getting into debt hehe

My view has always been that 996 values will reach a level where they will find a comfortable position. As they get older the cars that will lose the most money are those that have been poorly modified/have a sketchy service history.

Keep it fairly original, clean and tidy, document the history and I don't think any of us will ever go wrong.

I am hoping that in three/four years time my C2 01 reg facelift car will be worth £20k plus

996 residuals bow

Which pretty much makes a mockery of the £24k bid you received......

Thats the irony. You know EXACTLY what your car is worth, as do I. We keep abreast of price trends and generally all things Porsche. Nevertheless, we still get treated as children when we walk into an OPC and are assked to pay over the odds for new/used metal and accept a swift shafting on our PX's.

I have no problem any dealer earning a good living but a £10k mark up?

OK I am aware I am hijacking Ballcocks thread and ranting a bit so I will get my coat

To be fair to him he's a decent guy, but he's trying to sell me a vanilla GT3 which has obviosuly been tracked to hell (new discs on the front on a few thousand mile old car plus non Porsche pads!!) for £2k less than a GT3RS!!!!

Ijust told him I'd sell privately and then come with some cash. To be honest I am more inclined to but the 3RS at Henry's gaff and put the OPC warranty on it.

Oh I definately think you sould do that!! The car is stunning - it has been giving me impure thoughts all weekend and GT3's don't normally tick my boxes paperbag

An OPC rang me on Sat. and - I kid you not - said that he had a car that he thought I'd be very interested in "investing" in! That's one to go in the scrap book along with 'previously cherished' etc.

I've been looking longingly at that rs in Henry's too ... Unfortunately the speed bumps leading out of my estate say 'It's not goin to happen!!'

(and when I say 'estate' , I mean the 'housing' rather than the 'country pile' variety!!)

I'm real interested to see how you get on , Ves..

Sadly Henry's RS whilst undoubtedly beautiful, has the dreaded PCCB option. Add £4k to the purchase price if you take the car on track(and if you don't track it then why bother buying it). Alternatively just wait 3 or 4 track days and then replace them with some new discs at c £10k the set.
