Advice needed please .... I made the wrong decision by not ordering my non-S Carrera with a factory fit sports exhaust. I had based this decision on experience of a friends 2004 997 which was suitably loud and I can only assume that due to ever tightening EU regulations, the latest cars are quieter (or a cynic would suggest that porsche will sell more sports exhausts this way).... anyway all is not lost because I can retro fit the OEM kit at a cost of £1758 (Porsche Cambs) or go for the basic Tubu system at £1400 (both prices include VAT and fitting). Downsides to the Tubi, are possible warranty issues and the need to refit the original system before selling the car on.

Beware: PSE (i.e. the Porsche system) has a switch to turn sound levels to normal which the Tubi hasn't...

BTW - I've opted to go the PSE route and having it fitted on Friday. Can't wait.

Tubi every time I had the PSE on my C4S it was great sounding but I never used the quiet switch except when trying to get on 98db track days(it still failed the static test but never the drive buy)
I now have a GT3 which has just been tubied by russel at Jo Macari i have to say the tubi system is much better quality than the PSE which in my case failed after a year and is not covered by extended warentee cost me£600 for a new back box.
So far Tubi no contest Manu from tubi sometimes posts on hear call them talk to him about the difference its a convincing argument he makes.

Steve,

I am thinking exactly the same as you - I pick up my 997 S this week but a work colleague has recently purchased a 997 C4S from Tom Hartley with the PSE. He let me sit in it, start the engine, flip the switch and the sound was just awesome...Ever since, I've been worrying that mine will now be a bit disappointing!

I am assuming that if you have the sports chrono option already with said switch, the cost is less. I have just got off the phone with the OPC and they have quoted £1500 including VAT.

Let me know your findings on the tubi?

Irish has a caragraphic zorst on his and that sounded the same as the PSE when we were at lemans (obviously no switch)

bet it cost less than the OEM zorst.

....mine's non-sport chrono, I think it's dearer if that's fitted?

....stating the obvious, but what about a few of us getting together and securing a discount (Tubi or OPC)?....

Good idea - count me in (although the switch thing appeals to me (and hence the PSE) because of the ability to switch-off depending upon where you are, etc).

Hey I've been down the same route of PSE or Tubi. Mind has settled on the Tubi, it realy does sound amazing.
Group buy sounds like a great idea...........So 1 Tubi for me on my 996 C2. How do we get the group by going?

I had the same choice and stuck a Tubi on mine. In fact it is my 997 that you see on their website and there is no way i would have the PSE now. I drove one a while back and it did nothing for me. Strangely it did sound better on a 996 though.

PSE or Tubi, I could go either way

I'll ask Manu at Scuderia Systems if anything's on offer (ie how many takers required to qualify for money off - or free fitting?)

anybody have any tame contacts at an OPC, as by definition they're going to be more resistant to discount, then there's the Porsche Club option to consider?

Manu is up for a discount on a Tubi group buy. If we can post an estimated number he'll give us an idea of how much off.
On the alternative PSE front, anybody know of an OPC who'd like an order for at least half a dozen sports exhausts?

I want one! Please put my name down! Is it worth posting on the Porsche Club site to get some more interest?

I'd definitely be up for a PSE on group discount (Do they take student cards?hehe)..
.. My problem is a little matter of geography , depending on where you lot get them done.

Id possibly be in for a group buy on the PSE, although id have to err on the side of OPC as i want to retain my warranty.

...we need that game OPC to want to play ball with us

Should be possible to secure 10% off if we can secure 6 solid orders.

You get that anyway if you join the Porsche club.
