Thought Parr were expensive, wife just had the AGA serviced by Hoad and Taylor they charged £95.50 per hour!
Don't even think it's got any moving parts and it took 2 hours, phoned them thought they must have it wrong, no sir thats what we charge. Bloody outrageous,
Don't think the wife will make anymore comments about the cost of running my car

hmmm thats quite a lot!
off topic I know, but we have an Aga service plan which costs about £300 p.a but the annual service and parts are free and you get a priority service if it goes phut. You might think that is expensive but just wait until you see how much parts cost. I reckon weve been quids-in every year for the lat 8 years, epecially when we got the new control box (£650 to you sir)

I suppose 'Water Cooled' AGA's are ones which heat your hot water as well, whereas 'Air Cooled' don't.

I think the air-cooled ones were branded Hypocaust

I hate the bloody thing.
I use my car twice a day but I don't leave it running all night in the garage!
Should put a green tax on the bloody things

What about trying www.agadiyservice.co.uk where they show you how to service the aga yourself. Cheap too.

not wishing to continue this boring (apparently) off-topic thread but personally I like having an AGA. its a luxury item, i dont NEED it (I dont NEED a porsche either) but I like it enough to be prepared to pay for it. They do require maintenence - I'm prepared to pay for that too, and am quids in as a result. In this respect it is no different to any luxury item that we want but dont need. and its no different to owning a 911 and having an OPC warranty.

if you own an aga then you will appreciate the benefits of a service plan. If you dont then youre just another internet twcensoredt pontificating on a subject of which you have no knowledge or experience. "what a load of bollox". You said it.

nope, feeling quite benign actually. just dont like being called a numpty (either directly or inferred) by pub-gossiping ignorami. being called a numpty by people with greater knowledge or experience of the topic in question remains perfectly acceptable

All service plans are a rip-off,Porsche,BMW,Tv's,Gas boilers etc...Why would companies offer these services if it cost them money?.imho of course.

and a view you have defended compellingly many times! just as others have argued the value of warranty with equal vigour. I dont have shares in AGA - I'm simply saying that personally I have profited greatly from this particular warranty. I accept that this may be at the financial expense of other warranty owners, not the supplying company. however, those people are paying for the "peace of mind factor" which is hard to quantify/value, and ultimately in this respect "worth" is an entirely individual assessment. Youve been lucky with your cars. Ive been lucky with my aga service plan
