Anyone moved from a recent TVR to a Boxster S?
Discussion
Just posted these comments in another forum and wondered what other people's opinions are?
"Thought I would just add something to the Boxster comment- I have owned 2 TVR's up until very recently (Cerb and a T350)- both superb. Although I (used to) hate everything Porsche, I have just bought a Boxster S (for the girl...)to use everyday. I have to say I agree initially about it being souless. However, the more you drive it, the better it gets- the character is in the handling, not the drama/noise and the handling and balance on the short and twisties is way, way better than any TVR I have driven (quite a few by the way). Yes it doesn't have the noise, drama, passion, etc but on the right road you can have just (almost!) as much fun. I seriously recommend anyone to get a go in one and try it, you will be very impressed.
(Will be back in a TVR though once they sort themselves out. ;-))"

I've owned a Chimaera and a Boxster S for some years. The S blew me away when I first drove it and it still ticks all the boxes for me. I recently took mine around Thruxton and the balance in the super-fast corners was just fantastic. Give me a couple more days at Thruxton and I'll really start to exploit what it can do. Church was amazing. Turning in at just shy of a hundred miles an hour. There was more to come with some brave pills (and some extra talent).
But anyone used to 400bhp in a Cerb/Sag will definitely miss the power. Mind you - the lastest car does have the 295bhp Cayman S engine. So not bad...
