This video is taken from a 928 chasing a new Corvette Z06. Notice how easily the 928 is being driven, only to appear on the bumper of the Vette time and time again. At higher speeds they separate a bit, but this is compensated again at the stab of a brake or twitch of a gas throttle at those speeds. Pretty cool, eh?

I assume that the 928 with a Devek sunstrip was one of their 450bhp 6 litre jobbies, but what's a Z06??

All explained, in true American style (ie it sounds like Boss Hog is selling you a car from a showroom in uptown Detroit).
PS Oulton article should be up soon, Colin

Thanks Dom, now we all know why we don't buy American cars.
Good to see you both at the weekend, sorry about the weather, a wet Oulton is no place to explore the limits of a 400bhp RSR, least not unless you are the Stig. I'll be out again on 15th Nov, lets hope for at least one dry session!
Also a bit gutted though to know that I have a BMW E36 V8 in common with Iguana (but at least mine has more room for ballast). I'll get over it soon I hope.

Oi 9Monkey, we only have the engine in common, coz I'm sure that it was a 5 series I saw you in....... Oh and you have a girlie autobox too

Edited to add-
good to catch up with you also Colin, Dom has scribbled up an article which will be posted up sometime, & I'll follow up with a few reptillan wise cracks on the ensuing thread.

The car with the DEVEK windshield banner has DEVEK equipment but not the 6-liter crankshaft. It's an essentially stock S4.
As for the Z06, ha ha, I know this is a Porsche forum, but hey guys, ya got to keep up with what the competition is building, otherwise you won't know what it was that drove by you so fast. Sheesh.
You have to love an all aluminum DOHC injected 4-valve V8. Porsche was running this kind of equipment, albeit with a 2-valve setup, but still all aluminum, injected, SOHC, and with a transaxle. Corvette has finally come around, and they are very fine and very fast cars.
since the 928 has been out of production for a while, many of the Vette owners these days don't even know what a 928 is.

Hi.
I have a Z06 (Zee-O-Six) as the americans pronounce it.
What is it? A 405 HP Fixed Roof Coupe Corvette, which is lighter and faster than a standard corvette. GM Started offering the Z06 in 2001 as a 385HP model then uprated it to 405 in 2002 which is how it is now.
I have a 2003 Yellow one and I personally imported mine in May of this year from Maryland.
How does mine ocmpare with a Porsche? Don't know never driven a Porsche.
But these are the numbers that I have done in the car since I have owned it.
0-60 = 4.3 secs.
1/4 mile = 12.66 secs.
Top Speed on a 1.25 mile from a standing start = 169 MPH.
Not bad for a car that costs $53,000 which at the moment equates to £33,000.
Mine cost £45,000 on the road here in the UK which is a lot cheaper than a GT3........

From the tyre squeal it seems to me that the Porsche was being driven pretty hard by someone who knew what he was doing, whereas the Z06 was so far off line in places that it was either being driven by someone who'd never been on that circuit before or who needed a few lessons in how to drive around corners. Z06 certainly sprinted away from the Porsche on the exits to the corners, but I don't think there was enough similarity between the drivers to be able to tell the differences between the cars.
